'Subservient' ending sees Alice (Megan Fox) go rogue

WARNING: THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS

The end of Subservience does stretch the story arc too much. You could argue that the ending was a little much for a movie about a Megan Fox female robot. It’s not like a sequel is necessary in this case.

Nick and Maggie are in dire straits leading up to the movie’s end. Maggie learned that Nick had slept with Alice (Fox), the domesticated gynoid, while she was in the hospital. However, while the couple argue, Alice is upstairs trying to drown their baby, Max, as she believes the young boy is causing too much burden and stress for Nick. It’s evident at this point that Alice has gained feelings for Nick.

They manage to stop Alice from killing Max and temporarily destroy her. However, while Maggie and her children are in the hospital, Alice is being investigated by a repair team. She uploads her sentient nature into the systems and kills the humans investigating her. Alice now controls two robots. Once heads to the hospital, while the original visits Nick.

Nick manages to pull the power out of Alice when they meet. He uses her feelings to his advantage before removing the core power from her head. However, the other robot, controlled by Alice, is at the hospital, trying its best to get Max.

It’s clear at this point that Alice is obsessed with and stuck on Nick’s needs. She’s hard-coded to believe her objective can only be achieved by removing Nick’s burden.

When Nick reaches the hospital, he and Maggie have to fight off Alice as she gets increasingly more violent and aggressive. Eventually, they defeat Alice.

The end of Subservience hints that Nick and Maggie can repair their marriage despite the strange infidelity. It’s possible that Maggie can understand Nick’s perspective and the pressure he was under while being pressured by a Megan Fox-looking robot.

However, the end of Subservience also hints at a possible sequel. While Nick and Maggie believe that Alice is gone for good, it appears the sentient AI has wholly infiltrated the systems and can continue to replicate itself. What system? Where? Who knows. The movie does not make it clear. We’ve all seen the Terminator outcome hundreds of times before. And while it’s a nice adage to the film, its point was already made. It felt unnecessary.
