‘Earth Abides’ Finally Introduces Some Danger In A Dark Double-Bill, But Also Gets A Lot Stupider

December 22 2024

December 20 2024

Mayor Holland’s grip on Silo 18 continues to slip in Episode 6 of Season 2, which is imaginatively titled “Barricades” and finds Mechanical rising up...

The Ending Of ‘Before’ Is Mindnumbingly Stupid, As Expected

December 20 2024

Surprising absolutely nobody, the ending of Before is nonsense. We were expecting this, obviously, but Episode 10 is oddly impressive in its self-satisfaction. It’d be one thing...

‘Skeleton Crew’ Runs Into A Little Filler in Episode 4, But The Characters Remain Compelling

December 18 2024

Episode 4 seems a little early for a show like Skeleton Crew to be resorting to filler, but “Can’t Say I Remember No At Attin” does feel a bit like that.

‘Shrinking’ Season 2 Remains A Beautiful Nightmare In Episode 11

December 18 2024

‘Earth Abides’ Is Too Risk Averse In Episode 3 And It’s Getting Dull

December 15 2024

Episode 3, “World Without End”, moves the timeline further along and introduces a few new characters, but things still seem to be going too right too often for any real edge to take root in the setting.

‘Landman’ Pulls No Punches In Season 1, Episode 6, And Rightly So

December 15 2024

Landman needed an edge, and Episode 6, “Beware the Second Beating”, provides it capably. It was obvious that Cooper’s savage beating wasn’t going to go unanswered, but I was a little surprised by the speed, ferocity, and completeness of Tommy’s retribution.
