Summary

Teenage drama shenanigans are high in Sex Education Episode 4, with a major development for Maeve, and heartbreak for Otis.

This recap of Sex Education Season 1 Episode 4 contains spoilers. You can check out our thoughts on the previous episode by clicking these words.

Sex Education Episode 4 ended with a heartbreaking teenage moment for Otis (Asa Butterfield). It was his only fault in all fairness. Jackson (Kedar Williams-Stirling) has decided that Maeve (Emma Mackey) is the one, but he fails to make any progress in his relationship with her, apart from sex, so he goes to Otis’s sex clinic for paid-for advice.

The irony is served on a plate, as Otis realizes his feelings for Maeve after she touches his eyebrows and he gets a surprise hard-on, and decides to give Jackson advice that he believes will backfire. Well, it just turned out that the advice that based itself on soppiness and romance completely worked because, at the end of the episode, Jackson sings to her, which is met by a kissing embrace – punching Otis in the heart.

Sex Education continues its momentum of great storytelling; the main clinic scenario in Episode 4 is a lesbian couple who seemingly cannot make it work in the bedroom. Hilariously, Otis decides he needs an extra session with the couple while he learns about lesbian relationships. But to no surprise, the advice is all the same, and eventually, he makes a breakthrough.

Netflix Series Sex Education Episode 4 Recap

Sex Education Episode 4 sees Eric (Ncuti Gatwa) on the wings a little bit, not doing much but berating Otis constantly for his friendship with Maeve. He has managed to get himself into a bit of a war with Adam (Connor Swindells) who decides to dump a load of horse shit on his family car.

Sex Education Episode 4 did not make any significant developments apart from Maeve and Jackson’s relationship, which serves a sucker blow to Otis. The entire “friend-zoned” dynamic is at large here, but the consequences will surely be large, especially when Maeve realizes Otis engineered Jackson’s actions.

Remember the girl who tried to have sex with Eric in Episode 3? Well, she has got wind that Otis is a virgin, and offers that they both lose their virginity together. My prediction is that Otis will follow through with that at the same time Maeve figures out the advice Otis gave to Jackson – fireworks are on the way.
