Back to present day, Chapter 17 deals with the aftermath of Zelda (Miranda Otto) and Father Blackwood’s (Richard Coyle) plot-important wedding. A stubborn Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka) tries to get into The Academy, but Prudence is resistant; now that she has the family name, she wants to impress. The Weird Sisters are attempting to retrieve a confession for the murder of the Anti-Pope.

“The Missionaries” explore Mary Wardwell/Madam Satan’s (Michelle Gomez) relationship with Adam, after she decided to conceal her growing romance. She decides to take the day off, going for a relaxing walk with her fiance, and considering the prospect of moving to Tibet. Later that day, while enjoying dinner, she learns the Dark Lord has killed Adam for her betrayal, and she was eating him – Adam was a disguise. She works out that Stolas was giving information, and now she vows to get her revenge.

Chapter 17 The Missionaries Recap - Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 2

Back to the core story of Chapter 17, Sabrina is having a difficult time visiting her mortal friends, who are being cold with her for her recent absence, and Rosalind (Jaz Sinclair) suspects she made her blind for kissing Harvey (Ross Lynch). To add insult to injury, Nicholas (Gavin Leatherwood) is painfully drunk and offends Sabrina for being a half-witch and accuses her of going back to Harvey.

Hilda attempts to visit Ambrose, but Prudence tries tricking her with disguises. Hilda cleverly gives the Weird Sisters a succulent chicken, knowing they will throw the bones at Ambrose, so he can fashion his own bone key.

The last quarter of Chapter 17 becomes fast paced, and gory, presenting how much darker the series is willing to make the story. The Missionaries arrive at the town, and luckily Sabrina escapes death due to a Rosalind premonition. The Missionaries attack The Academy, using their God to trap them into a hostage situation. Ambrose escapes with a chicken bone key but gets seriously injured.

While Nicholas and Harvey argue, Sabrina wants to save the people trapped in The Academy, but The Missionaries are surprisingly violent and resourceful, shooting multiple arrows at her until she falls and slitting Melvins throat clean. Chapter 17 changes the game; as The Missionaries announce victory over the witches, Sabrina rises, with her nestled crown over her head, providing symbolic religious metaphors and demands they chant the Dark Lord. The Missionaries bow down to Sabrina, and she hails “I am The Dark Lord’s Sword” before enveloping them in flames.

Sabrina has a newfound power.
