After the success of season 3, Coach Jason Brown is a celebrity. He’s brought plenty to the Indy Pirates which has taken the media by storm. Women are throwing themselves at him, but he’s still the same man; he still sits in interviews with a whiskey chaser, saying the most outrageous of sentences. He seems softer in the opening episode, “Dream U” — renaming his program to be all about dreams, not last chances. Independence College is raking in the money, buying new pitches, and managing to secure newer high profile players. The expectation is to win the Nationals.

Episode 1 of Season 4 does catch up with Bobby Bruce. This kid frustrates the hell out of me. I could not believe it in Season 3 when he got himself involved with the wrong people again. I was massively disappointed, but Jason Brown has love for him, accepting him back into the program for his last chance. Bobby Bruce has a baby on the way, so surely that is his motivation to stay on the straight and narrow — “Dream U” confirms his future means more to him now.

We are introduced to Jay Jones in “Dream U”. A transfer from Georgia Tech — a highly skilled Quarter Back that has not had much luck with his College Football thus far, not connecting with various coaches. He’s propped to be the star of Last Chance U Season 4, but a dodgy hamstring looms. The physio assures Coach Brown that he should be fit for the start of the season.

Remember Malik Henry? His attitude was his downfall in Season 3, but his father is relying on Jason Brown for forgiveness, requesting that his son is allowed to stay on the fringes of the Pirates. The issue is, “Dream U” confirms that the team are not warm for a Malik Henry return. He’s high profile in the media, and he is known to cause team imbalance. Jay Jones is especially wary of him, based on the fact he’s competing for his position.

Anyway, to the first Game Day of Last Chance U Season 4 at Dodge City. The Indie Pirates destroy them, hailed as an “Explosion of Talent”. The only downside is that Jay Jones pulls his hamstring, causing Quarter Back issues already. Chase Hildreth, the backup Quarter Back pulls the rabbit out of the hat and pulls off a convincing victory. Malik Henry will be lurking around the corner. Episode 1, “Dream U” was not as fast-paced and aggressive, but the Netflix series returns comfortably.
