Summary

13 Reasons Why Season 3, Episode 11, “There Are a Few Things I Haven’t Told You” labors the story to a ridiculous degree, to the point that it’s hard to care who killed Bryce now.

Talk about dragging this out. I appreciate the concept — 13 Reasons Why — but the 13-chapter structure only worked with the first season as it involved the tapes. Netflix has commissioned 13 episodes here clearly for the sake of it, killing any anticipation brewing in the build-up.

Anyway, Clay’s situation is getting worse. His lawyer talks to him about the cell-tower evidence. He was in the right places, at the correct times in terms of cell-tower data and Bryce’s death. By the way, cell tower data is not entirely accurate based on the True Crime series I’ve watched recently. Also, his internet search terms are not favorable, but he does write fan-fiction. Clay may be the most innocent guilty man written into a TV show.

But the madness surrounding the Homecoming drama started when Principal Bolan made Jessica know that Bryce may be returning for Spring Semester, which spurred her to go ahead with the protest. Her story from that night is that she was tucked in bed by her father, but Justin said he had five missed calls.

The best scene of Episode 11 was when Jessica approaches Tyler and warns him about not attending the latest speech where she will need to apologize to Hillcrest, forced by the Principal. Tyler explains she is more than an ally and shows Jessica her goodbye video, which explains what happened to him. Flashbacks show that Bryce did try and genuinely help him, and before the Homecoming game, Bryce confronted Monty and threatened to reveal everything he knows about him to the police if he does not leave Tyler alone.

Jessica asks Tyler if he is ready to tell the police; in reality, Tyler is the only person that can help Clay, so I’m not sure why there’s little pressure in the story. At the Homecoming game, the fights were sparked when a Hillcrest player grabbed Jessica’s breasts, and then punches were thrown.

13 Reasons Why Season 3, Episode 11, “There Are a Few Things I Haven’t Told You” ends with Justin asking Seth for a favor, and in present-day, Clay asks Tony to help him disappear.
