Summary
Episode 7 sees Devi trying to be a better friend, but all her lies are starting to catch up.
After being ousted as a liar, Devi is trying to keep a low profile at school in Never Have I Ever Season 1, Episode 7, but then she learns that Paxton did not tell anyone that she lied, and… he’s moved on with another girl.
Jonah has joined the friendship group and formed a connection with Fabiola, as he needs to come out of the closet as well.
Devi asks Fabiola and Eleanor if they can cut her some slack as Paxton dumped her, but Fabiola tells Devi that she’s gay. Devi is excited for her and decides she wants to make it up to her friends and host a slumber party (without Jonah).
A true friend
Devi is desperate to prove she’s a good friend in Episode 7. First, she meets Eleanor’s mother Joyce at the Mexican restaurant. Unknowingly, she offers to help them both out to Eleanor.
Eleanor’s mother, Joyce, comes to speak to Eleanor in person, but Eleanor gets upset and walks off. Joyce reveals she got fired from the cruise, and they bond a little, so they decide to bake together at Devi’s house. Joyce wants all the gossip from Eleanor and her friends.
Joyce is not being a great mother, revealing to the other mothers in the group that Devi and co. have boyfriends and girlfriends. Nalini then finds out about Paxton, forcing to tell everyone in the group the truth — that she never did anything with Paxton and she is a big “virgin fraud”.
Devi’s friends now know she is a liar.
The aftermath of these revelations
Fabiola tells her mother that she’s gay. At first, her mother has to process it but then tells her she just wants Fabiola to be happy. Fabiola looks relieved to be able to come out to her mother.
Devi tells Fabiola and Eleanor that she’s been a rubbish friend and that they can replace her with Jonah — they don’t want to replace her and are forgiving.
Episode 7 ends with Devi getting a text from Paxton asking her to go to his house and that he needs her help. But at the same time, Eleanor needs Devi and Fabiola — she’s in bits as her mother has left again to pursue a career.
Devi has a choice to make.
