How does Dead to Me season 2, episode 1, You Know What I Did” begin?
After the events of the night before, Jen and Judy wake up and frantically make breakfast. There is clear tension at the very start of Season 2.
Henry asks why the pool cover is on. There are questions already.
Jen drops Judy off and tells her that she cannot tell anyone what happened to Steve and act like he’s not dead. She’s understandably freaking out. Judy is apologetic for starting all this but Jen is not in the mood to be friends.
Afterward, Jen scrubs the swimming pool floor with bleach, and Judy wipes the blood off. Both women cry as they do what they need to do.
Why does Jen’s neighbor Karen spook her?
Karen is very nosey asking Jen who she was arguing with the night before. Jen makes out she was having very angry sex. Karen also makes Jen aware that she has a street cam that sees everything. Jen asks if she’d like a morning drink so she can see the footage.
The camera footage is super clear — you can clearly see Steve and Judy come to her house. Her neighbor then alarmingly triggers the pool cover and Jen is terrified. But surprisingly, the dead body is not there.
Jen then checks out her CCTV at the moment she and Steve had a confrontation. Henry then wakes up from a bad dream — he explains he dreamt someone took his mother away. She promises Henry that it will never happen.
The emotional toll is getting to Jen, spending the night crying on the bed.
Why does Judy return to Jen’s house?
With the storm calming somewhat, Dead to Me season 2, episode 1, “You Know What I Did” sees Jen finally giving in and calling Judy. When she learns she is living in her car, Jen invites her over. Jen cries about the situation and Judy comforts her, reminding Jen that it was self-defense so it was not her fault.
Flashbacks reveal that it was not self-defense at all.
How does Dead to Me season 2, episode 1, You Know What I Did” end?
It ends with Jen telling Judy that she can stay until she finds a place. There’s a knock on the door and it is someone they were not expecting to see — he looks like Steve.
This is a good opening episode and demonstrates we are in for a ride with the continuation of the story.
