How does Love, Victor season 1, episode 7, “What Happens In Willachoochee” open?
Episode 7 opens up with Victor claiming he’s happy with Mia and wants a chance to be “normal”. Mia asks him if he will attend a fundraiser on Sunday. In terms of Felix, he tells Victor the news that he and Lake hooked up and then tries to speak to her in Creekwood. Lake pushes her into a room and says, “We never hooked up. It can never happen again”. Episode 7 shows Lake is in denial.
The coffee machine breaks
The coffee shop’s machine has broken so Benji and Victor suggest a road trip to Willachoochee to get it fixed. On the road trip, Benji and Victor bond immediately. When they get to the place to fix the coffee machine, there’s little confidence that it will be fixed quickly so Victor is panicking. The pair decide to go clothes shopping for Mia’s father’s fundraiser.
Cold turkey
Felix asks Pilar for girl’s advice because Victor is away — he explains how Lake has blown him off but wants it to happen again. Pilar suggests going “cold turkey” on phones for a period of time as they are both obsessed with stalking their crushes on social media. Pilar says she has struggled to become friends with anyone at Creekwood so Felix invites her for coffee. As they are having coffee, Lake turns up and asks Felix why he isn’t liking her Instagram posts anymore. Felix admits to coming on strong and she wants to meet him at the back of the cafe to hook up.
He’s not coming
At the fundraiser, Andrew speaks to Mia. They reminisce about a game they used to play. Andrew asks where Victor is and Mia states he is on his way. Meanwhile, the coffee machine is fixed so it is ready to go — Victor lies to Benji and states they will need to stay in a motel while the machine repairs overnight. Victor rings up Mia and apologizes and Andrew lurks. He gives her a grilled cheese sandwich and then kisses her — Mia says he ruined it. Andrew asks Mia why she’s acting as nothing happened and why did she call him in the middle of the night. Mia explained her mother called her — “I just need to feel something else, so I called you. Sorry, Andrew, you were just a very bad idea on a bad night”. Love, Victor season 1, episode 7, “What Happens In Willacoochee” brings some much-needed background on Andrew and Mia.
Veronica apologizes to Mia that the night didn’t turn out the way she wanted it to. Mia is clearly heartbroken that Victor did not show up and it’s showing.
There’s room in the bed
At the motel, Victor and Benji decide to share beds as the floor is “nasty”. Victor asks Benji why his driver’s license is suspended. Benji opens up to how he didn’t want to be gay and drank a lot and one night he drove through a Wendy’s. Benji recognized that night he could have died and that’s the reason he “came out”. He wants Victor to keep the accident a secret.
