After establishing who Lila is — an assassin who sees The Handler as her mother after being ripped away by her murdered parents, we assume she is just good at mixed martial arts. In fact, up until the last episode, we assume this. In the last frantic and exciting episode, we learn that Lila has powers and we are not sure why she does. Even The Umbrella Academy is confused and they struggle to fight her. So why does Lila have powers in The Umbrella Academy Season 2?

What powers does she have?

At first, the assumption is that she has the same powers as Vanya as she returns the same energy as her when fighting at the barn, but then we see her use “I heard a rumor” on Allison. Klaus comes up with a theory that Lila has all their powers but she can only use one at a time. So Lila either mimics the powers or she was born with each power that The Umbrella Academy has separately.

But why does she have powers?

The only conclusion that Diego and the family come up with is that she is part of the family somehow — this seems like a loose explanation but The Umbrella Academy seems convinced she is one of them and that there isn’t a large population of people with powers out there. But it does not explain why she was not adopted by Reginald Hargreeves and why her parents had to be murdered. The origin of Lila still needs exploring and we are sure that the third season will flesh it out.

If the explanation is that there are millions of people out there that have powers then that changes the story dramatically — it’s not just a family thing anymore, it is a wider problem.

Where did Lila go?

We are not sure — she grabbed a briefcase and bolted after Diego let her go and declared his love for her. Hopefully, she comes back fairly quickly in Season 3 as she’s a very good character.
