The opening

Camille wants to lunch with Emily to discuss something important. She talks to Mindy and feels like she knows about her kiss with Gabriel. Camille has lunch with Emily and asks if her agency would be interested in taking on her family’s champagne house as a client. Camille wants Emily to join her at the chateau over the weekend to speak to her mother about it.

Episode 8 shows it getting increasingly awkward for Emily who finds herself shunted into a love triangle she does not want.

A new client

Emily talks to Sylvie and the team about the champagne client and they are cynical. Sylvie is also curious to why she’s off on a weekend away with Gabriel’s girlfriend. At night, Emily joins Mindy on a hen do. Mindy’s friends want to know about Mindy’s life in Paris — Mindy doesn’t want them to know that she’s a nanny.

Can’t we be friends?

It turns out Gabriel is joining Emily and Camille on the trip which is a cosy drive. They head to Camille’s family house. Gabriel tells Emily that they should go to the farmer’s market but Emily wants to be friendly but not friends. Gabriel does not like how they don’t talk to each other. Emily agrees to go to the tour while he goes to the market. Emily heads to the tour and enjoys the champagne tasting. The tour guide is Camille’s brother and they get along very well.

The denial between both Emily and Gabriel is obvious but Emily does not want to be like Sylvie — she wants the whole thing.

Family dinner

Later on, Emily joins Camille’s family for dinner, cooked by Gabriel. Emily is complimentary about the champagne. The discussion of Gabriel’s restaurant comes up and the family keep talking about how they have offered to fund the investment which seems to offend him.

It’s time to sing

As for Mindy, her friends know she’s a nanny and that her parents cut her off. They want her to be in Paris and singing. They paid for stage time in one of the clubs. Mindy starts singing and the crowd loves it. Emily sees it on Instagram live and is impressed.

Champagne sex

Camille’s brother joins Emily next to the pool and offers her champagne. She talks about how she had a nice job, boyfriend and friends — she realised that she had run away because she had no decisions left to make. Emily likes how everything is new and infusing. This leads to them having sex.

Morning sex blues

The next morning is awkward as the brother makes it obvious that they had sex — Emily did not realize how young he was which triples the embarrassment. Camille’s mother wants a private meeting and she asks for honesty. She asks if her son is a good lover as she is worried about her children’s future. Emily wants to pitch the agency — she wants to make her champagne brand the official spray of Paris. She got the idea from the hen party.

The ending

Emily is still embarrassed that she slept with Camille’s young brother which leads to a joke by Gabriel that he’s too old for her.
