In the first few chapters of the series, Dani is torn by her past — she’s heckled and traumatized by it and that brings a restlessness in her body language as she tries to overcome her new au pair job. There is a man in the past that is haunting her — so who is Edmund in The Haunting of Bly Manor?
Does Edmund work at Bly Manor?
No — in fact, he’s the only character that has no association with the manor whatsoever. Edmund is Dani’s ex.
How did Dani and Edmund meet each other?
The series explains how Dani and Edmund were childhood sweethearts, destined for a lifetime of love and happiness. But, there was always something not quite right leading up to the wedding day.
Why was Dani unsure?
In the episode where all this is revealed, Dani seems restless and hesitant — from choosing her wedding dress, the engagement party and leading up to the big day, there was something quite not right. We could make a guess that Dani felt guilty at the prospect of breaking up with someone she’s known since a child.
So Edmund and Dani did not get married?
No, they did not. When Edmund senses that Dani does not want the wedding to go ahead, the break-up was assumed immediately. It’s an awful break-up scene and you can tell Dani does love him but not in that way.
Edmund’s end…
And what makes the situation worse is that as soon as both characters confirm the break-up, Edmund leaves the car they are in and he’s immediately run over. He dies.
Poor Edmund.
