It’s the obligatory Christmas episode! And this year, Lois wants everyone to pitch in. Not only that, she wants a present from the heart (typical!). She gives everyone a list of chores with a twenty-four-hour deadline, and Peter… fails at all of them miserably. He takes the entire family to a strip mall and picks up no Christmas stuff whatsoever, and when he returns empty-handed Lois is so angry that she not only remembers Brian is a dog but decides she’s spending the holiday period in Cabo with her “cousins”.
Where Lois actually goes is a motel from which she can spy on the family from afar, fully expecting Peter to fail miserably and all of them to fall apart and beg for her return. In the meantime, she can relax a bit. All things considered, it’s a pretty good plan.
Problems arise when Peter actually manages to put the lights up (incidentally they’re too bright for Quagmire, who’s trying to keep his 3/10 date obscured.) Not only that but he fully gets into the swing of things. Before long, the local news station is on the front lawn while Peter and the kids frolic around having a snowball fight and confessing their love for one another. Lois is, naturally, furious, and resolves to ruin Christmas for all of them.
Dressed as the Grinch, Lois sneaks inside and — after being pulled away several times to do all the chores that are piling up — manages to sabotage the decorations enough that when Peter gets up he thinks they’ve been robbed. Lois returns from “Cabo” in a poncho and a sombrero only to find that the heartfelt present the family got for her has been upstairs the whole time! She reads the attached note with tears streaming down her face and rejoices over the terrible bowl they all made for her in a pottery class. It wouldn’t be Family Guy if Lois wasn’t dreaming all this in hospital. But judging by that bowl, maybe it’s for the best after all.
Merry Christmas.
