Summary

“No Rest for the Eyes, No Rest for the Heart” implicates someone close to a major character as the plot thickens with politics.

This Capitani season 1, episode 4 recap for the episode titled “No Rest for the Eyes, No Rest for the Heart” contains spoilers.

Capitani episode 4 begins on July 10, Day 4, and predictably gossip is running rife through the village. Also predictably, Mores can’t just stay out of it when he’s asked direct questions, and intimates that Jenny’s death might have also been a sex crime — this will come back to haunt him by the end of “No Rest for the Eyes, No Rest for the Heart”, even if it happens to be true.

On his usual run (told you it would become a theme), Capitani goes looking for Mick at his construction company, which are lopping down half the forest, but he’s not there. He and Elsa instead go to interview Tanja, who claims to have been with Lea in the city. We know this isn’t true for several reasons, among them the fact that moments prior we saw her sending a text message to Lea asking for her help. It’s an obvious cover-up. She claims to have spent the night with a boy, but can’t remember his name or address. How convenient.

Capitani’s next stop is the mayor’s office, where Pit tells him that a municipal merger has been approved and that he’s likely to oversee the new mega-municipality himself. However, the vote is still pending and he needs his fellow chief on-side. His chief is, all together now, Mick, so Pit got his wife to swipe Rob’s specs and paint him as Jenny’s killer so the whole thing could be wrapped up and Mick could focus on the upcoming vote. Pit is kind of remarkably open about this, all things considered. For posterity, Capitani and Mores decide to attend the meeting between the various councils who’re merging. We also see that Mick is sleeping with Manon, a character we’ve had glimpses of throughout the previous episodes but don’t know much about yet.

Things go a bit haywire at the council meeting, where Mick uses the rumours of a sex-crime — fires fanned by Mores, you’ll recall — and the mayor’s behaviour regarding the glasses to discredit himself and position himself as the mayor of the new municipality. Capitani is fuming with Mores for being such a blabbermouth, but this seems to have been Mick’s plan all along. He’s using the murder of his own daughter to seize political power — it hardly paints him in a favourable light.

In a flurry of closing scenes, Capitani season 1, episode 4 builds to its next cliffhanger. Pit goes into the woods with a rifle, ostensibly to hunt a wolf; Tanja’s “friend” Tun visits her; Jenny’s autopsy continues. But of particular note is what’s happening at the military base. Capitani goes to request an interview with the major, but he’s instead greeted by Steve. When we see him put his jacket on, we see it’s missing a button. Told you Elsa’s relationship was going to end in tears!
