This article discusses the ending of Netflix’s Elite Short Stories: Nadia Guzman, so it will contain major spoilers.
Following yesterday’s first season of Elite’s Short Stories comes the second installment, which focuses on Nadia and Guzman.
Following the conclusion of season 3, Nadia and Guzman were in a good place in their relationship. Despite living in different countries, they decided to give their relationship a try. But do they succeed?
Elite Short Stories: Nadia Guzman starts with Nadia settling into her new life in New York. She learns from Omar that her estranged sister is getting married. Without stating the details, Nadia informs her brother that she doesn’t want to attend in fear of seeing Guzman. Despite her hesitation of meeting him, the pair are still dating. When Guzman tells Omar he plans to fly to New York on the weekend of the wedding, Omar has no choice but to tell Guzman about the wedding. This then leads to an argument over the phone between Nadia and Guzman.
However, the situation settles for them when Nadia explains her feelings to Guzman. She has fears that seeing him will make it extremely difficult for her to return to New York. To compromise, the pair agree that whilst they will keep in contact, they won’t see each other in person.
At her sister’s wedding, Omar guesses the true reason as to why Nadia doesn’t want to see Guzman. Her feelings have grown uncertain towards Guzman, making her fear that the relationship may be heading to a halt. After a pep-talk from her newly married sister, Nadia bites the bullet and meets with Guzman.
Nadia and Guzman go on a date beside the sunset, and it all goes well until Guzman declares that Nadia is the love of his life. Trapped by his confession, Nadia states that she feels like she needed an “average date” which would then allow her to “fly,” but Guzman isn’t allowing her to do so.
Guzman asks Nadia if she wants to leave him, and even though she doesn’t, she wants to keep their relationship to phone contact solely and see if they can, in fact, survive. Guzman understands and wants her to fly, but he asks for one night where they can be together.
We don’t learn if that happens as we next see Nadia flying back to New York.
An emotional watch, yet the audience isn’t provided with any concrete answers as to the status of Nadia and Guzman’s relationship. With a lot of guesswork needed whilst watching, Elite Short Stories adds further depth to the storylines that will occur in season 4.
