This article discusses the ending of Netflix’s Elite Short Stories: Omar Ander Alexis, so it will contain major spoilers.

In the third of four short stories by Elite, we’re focused on Ander (played by Arón Piper), Omar (played by Omar Ayuso), and Alexis. The story begins with Ander, who is no longer in chemo, visiting a seemingly defeated Alexis, who’s still in treatment. During the visit, emotions fly, and it’s let slip that Ander knows about Omar’s fling with Malick. To remind audiences, Malick originally dated Nadia to hide his sexuality. During this time was when Ander first underwent chemotherapy and Omar had a fling with Malick. Omar almost went to New York with Malick but decided to stay with Ander.

Overwhelmed with guilt, Omar walks out of the hospital. Ander is close behind him and assures him that he has no issue with his past fling. Ander understands that he wasn’t there for Omar at that time. Instead of being angry, Ander wants there to be no more lies between him and Omar.

Shortly afterward, hoping to lift Alexis’ spirits, they invite him to a barbeque at Rebe’s new house. During the barbeque, it’s obvious that Ander has a sense of guilt over beating cancer and watching Alexis still suffer. He wants to be there for Alexis. “People disappear, but I won’t,” Ander tells Rebe.

Alexis confides to Rebe that the doctor has told him that he has 2 to 3 months left to live. Whilst Alexis goes for a swim, Rebe tells Ander and Omar what she has learned.

Falsely believing that Alexis is drowning in the pool, he jumps in to save him. Alexis explains he was floating at the bottom, “like they do in the movies.” Ander instantly berates him for not going through with chemo. Alexis brings him to tears by asking him, “let me die in peace.”
In the final section of the short stories, Ander visits Alexis in hospital. Despite his initial reluctance, Ander accepts Alexis’s choice and won’t argue with him over his choice to not undergo chemo.

Ander and Alexis have a final heart-to-heart at the hospital. In the closing moments, Alexis has Ander close his eyes. When he reopens them, Alexis has gone.
