This is definitely still a “hit and miss” series, but there are some good gems amongst some average chapters. Watching people fight over a loot box in the middle of snowy scapes is certainly entertaining.

The title screen, “Sam,” pops up. A group of people is walking through the snow, and one of the group members complains that he is starving. He’s told to “quit his bitching” and eat some snow. The group finds a large wooden box and tries and open it themselves, but then they are approached by a man with a gun from the militia faction. The soldier asks Mance to help and gives him a tool to open the box. Inside there are food and medical kits. The soldier wants to work with the group to get over the ridge and have a fair share of the box. The soldier reveals himself as Sam and shakes hands with Mance.

“The safe place”

The title screen, “Bluff,” pops up. We return to Rose, Anna, and the man who is leading them. He has a surprise place for them that is apparently safe, but Rose is not feeling sure about the situation. She feels like he is lying, but he is insistent — Rose says if they are not in this safe place by sundown, she’ll kill him.

Moving boxes

The title screen, “Company,” pops up. Sun continues to be dragged in cuffs by Ray. They come across another group. They’ve found a box with food and medical kits. Ray tells them that he doesn’t want to give the other group a fair share and that he will offer them scraps. The title screen, “Push,” pops up. Sam and the group are still working together to move the large box over the ridge.

Lost

There’s no time to doubt or hesitate in a world so desperate, but maybe Anna represents the humanity left in all of us.

The title screen “The Ridge” pops up, and the man that Rose and Anna are with is panicking as he can’t find what he’s looking for. Rose knows he is lost and is confident that there is no place and calls him a “fucking liar”. She feels he has brought them up here on a ridge to die. The man and Rose start arguing, frustrated with the situation. The man tells her he knows a ski lodge with power, water, and food. Rose laughs and says it sounds nice and asks the man if they can go for a walk — she tells Anna to stay behind. The man begs Rose, but she tells him to keep walking.

Rose takes him to a place to shoot him, but Anna tells her mother to stop. Rose offers the man mercy due to her daughter, and the man is relieved.

Fighting over the box

The title screen “Offering” pops up. One of the men from the other group kills one of Ray’s people — he tells Ray to get the scraps, and they’ll take the rest. It is a showdown between both groups. Sun suddenly gets up and tells them all to stop and speaks in Korean. She says, “friends”. Both leaders of both groups tell her to get out of the way, but the zombies appear. They have no choice but to shoot the zombies, and then Ray points his gun at the other leader, and another showdown ensues. The other group has no choice but to take the scraps and leave.

Ray uncuffs Sun, and she’s relieved. However, when she looks at her wrist, it’s severely sore. Ray obviously finds Sun useful.

The ending of Black Summer season 2, episode 6

The title screen “Pull” pops up, and Sam and the group are still moving the box, but it’s a struggle uphill. Sam keeps shouting “pull,” telling the others to earn their share. However, two of the women drop the rope, and then Mance cuts it, and Sam falls with the large box. Sam is in intense pain as he’s broken his leg. Blood is spilling everywhere. Eventually, he’s found by a zombie — goodbye, Sam.

The title screen “Sundown” pops up. The man who is with Rose and Anna finds the ski lodge, and he is elated and celebrating. He did have until sundown after all.
