How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast) season 3 ending explained - does Moritz get away with it?

This article contains major spoilers for the How To Sell Drugs Online (Fast) season 3 ending.

How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast) season 3 does something unusual for a Netflix original, which is end. Or it seems to, anyway. There are still some loose ends and burning questions after “Everybody gets a second chance”, but it mostly lives up to its title. Quite what the various teenage characters will do with that second chance remains to be seen, and it’s probably a story we’re better speculating about rather than seeing in a fourth season. This outing raised the stakes, deepened the relationships, and provided plenty of drama, so let’s unpack what went down.

Like a lot of stories about teens, How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast) season 3 ends with the high school dance – sort of. With Moritz’s vengeful Dutch supplier Marlene dead at the hands of Moritz’s father Jenser, who knows what Moritz has been up, and Maarten held hostage by the kids in one of the empty high school rooms, it initially seems like it’s going to come down to a vote on whether to kill the man or not. The kids are already in over their heads with their drug empire, but murder would be crossing even more distant moral and legal lines.

Ultimately Moritz finally takes on the responsibilities of a CEO that he’s always wanted by basically turning himself in, ensuring his friends are left unmolested by forcing them to leave in disgust after claiming to be going into business with Maarten. He’s taken into custody and given a sentence, but he’s also able to finesse a laptop, which after a purely hypothetical conversation with Lenny he’s able to crack the security on so that he can access the internet. A Skype call finds all the kids – Lenny, Lisa, Gerda, Dan, and Fritzi – all happily going about their lives, having been spared a custodial sentence thanks to Moritz’s semi-self-sacrifice. But he might not even have to pay his dues to society, as an anonymous call alerts him to the fact that he’s about to be broken out. In that documentary interview that has provided a framing device for all three seasons, we see Lisa behind the camera.

There’s plenty of payoff for the work this season has put into Moritz and Lenny’s relationship. Lenny’s worsening cancer provides plenty of motivation for some of the gang’s more drastic actions, Moritz’s sacrifice spares him time inside, and if we’re to assume Lenny is the voice on the phone planning to break Moritz out, he’s still continuing to endanger himself for his friend. At the very list, he – hypothetically, of course – told Moritz how to access the internet while incarcerated, which is always a plus.

A worthwhile question is whether Moritz is using that laptop to run a new version of MyDrugs from prison, with the legwork being taken care of courtesy of the Albanians and Maarten, which we’re given a hint of in the How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast) season 3 ending. Both he and his father seem to be benefitting financially, so it probably stands to reason he hasn’t ceased his activities, despite being locked up.
