Brand New Cherry Flavor episode 2 recap
Starting exactly where episode 1 ended, Boro (played by Catherine Keener) informs Lisa (played by Rosa Salazar) that in order for their deal to work, Lisa must open up to the spirit world. To help that happen, Bono asks questions related to Lisa’s upbringing, which leads her to the information that Lisa has never met her mother. Meanwhile, Lou shows the short movie to Roy, who believes that it can’t be made without Lisa’s involvement.
As part of the curse against Lou, Lisa must participate in a bonding ritual that involves eating a stew and returning to Bono by 11pm the next night. Oh! And Lisa must get a photograph of Lou and a pinch of his pubic hair. Returning to her ex-lover Code, who, as a high-end drug dealer, is able to provide Lisa with the details of two thugs, James and Ralph, who may be able able to help her get her desired objects.
The two thugs, James and his uncle Ralph, pose as agents to barge past Lou’s housekeeping. They create a situation that allows Lisa, who feels the effects of the stew, to rummage, only for her to wake up Jonathan, who mistakes her for being one of his father’s proteges. Aka believes she is sleeping with his Dad. Lisa corrects him by telling him that no, she isn’t sleeping with Lou, but is instead attempting to put a curse on him. But her attempts fail after housekeeping call the cops and Lisa gets arrested.
Placed in a cell with several other female prisoners, another prisoner warns her that those who get into debt with Boro tend to have “bad things” happen to them. Not only that, but when the fellow prisoners begin to have an altercation with Lisa, she pukes up another kitten. Although, before the inmates can react, Lisa is released after Roy pays for her bail.
The ending
After returning to her apartment, Lisa finds Lou that recruited James and Ralph. Learning from Jonathan that Lisa is performing a curse against him, Lou doesn’t take it seriously and allows Lisa to rip off some of his pubes. With thirty minutes left before it reaches 11pm, Lisa returns to Boro. Ahead of the ritual, Lisa finds that the kitten she puked up in episode 1 is now a fully grown cat. Once the ritual is over, Boro declares that it’s time to punish Lou. Episode 2 of Brand New Cherry Flavor ends with Boro taking some blood from the car before drinking it.
