Summary
There are new plot points and a new suspect, but Truth Be Told continues throwing anything into the story — the writing feels lazy and rushed. So far, it’s worse than season 1.

Strangely enough, Truth Be Told is proving to be increasingly popular despite critics panning it. I mean, I’m panning it, but it looks like I will have to stick with it. Apple TV+ is slowly increasing its subscribers, and this series has managed to make itself a staple. Anyway, let’s recap episode 3.
Truth Be Told season 2, episode 3
As usual, episode 3 opens with Poppy recording her podcast, talking about the “deepest truths.” She ponders what it is like when a trusted ally betrays you. She talks about Josh and his secret son. After her recording, she is immediately worried about Alana Cave’s lawsuit against her. Ingram provides her a line of questioning regarding Owen Cave, so she is prepared for her deposition. Also, their relationship isn’t entirely in the clear yet, with Ingram hesitant; he believes he’s still going to find something else about Poppy, so we are provided with an emotional conversation between them.
And then episode 3 brings a new story sparked by Markus; a woman named Sherese finds him at the bar — he knows her from school. She’s looking for her daughter Drea who has been missing for a year. Shreve, who is listening in the background, offers to help out by alerting the community. I don’t have any feelings on this subplot yet — let’s wait and see how it develops.
The investigation of Joshua and his secrets turns to Ramon, who works for Micah. Micah can sense that Ramon is emotionally distracted. She reminisces with him about Josh and asks him what changed within her husband. A flustered Ramon denies anything happened between him and her husband, but he can’t keep a poker face; Micah does not believe him.
Meanwhile, Noa and Poppy find out who Dru’s biological mother is — Leana Parker. Of course, Micah wants to meet her, so they do. Leana explains she did not tell Josh about the baby and put Dru under adoption. Interestingly, there’s a photo of Dru at Ramon’s apartment. Noa turns the investigation towards Ramon, but Poppy is wary that they need a motive.
Out of absolute nowhere, Detective Aames questions Ramon and tries to angle that he killed Josh and Dru. He brings up his secret criminal record — Micah sold Ramon out. After being questioned by the detective, Ramon has a breakdown on Instagram live and exposes Micah — he claims she exposes people by using their vulnerabilities.
The ending
As the episode ends, Poppy records a podcast episode with Micah and asks if there’s any truth regarding Ramon’s Instagram live; of course, Micah denies the claims, but this is hardly an authentic approach to clear her name — she’s doing a podcast with her best friend! Episode 3 ends with Ramon sneaking up behind Micah in her house.
Additional points
- Micah is under pressure at Shelter due to investors, and she’s frustrated with a couple of her employees.
