If there’s ever an episode that will break the internet, it’s this one. The writers have saved the good stuff for the final three episodes for sure, and this easily heads into the top 5 chapters of the second season. Let’s recap episode 11!

Hospital Playlist season 2, episode 11 recap

Episode 11 opens with Song-hwa leaving a birthday present and card for Lee Ik-jun in his office. The question paused on everyone’s lips is: what will it take for Song-hwa to take a leap of faith with Lee Ik-jun. Well, episode 11 is that trigger…

And so, the hospital is alerted that a doctor has a collapsed who works at Yulje — they were assaulted and hit from a rock from behind — that doctor is Lee Ik-jun, and he’s in critical condition. Now in a hospital bed, Song-hwa turns up, and she immediately cares for him, asking Lee Ik-jun if he can move parts of his body. She updates the others and believes he does not need surgery if the bleeding does not worsen. There are police involved to see who his attacker was. And of course, Song-hwa wants to look after Lee Ik-jun the most.

Episode 11 of season 2 flits to some Hospital Playlist history; May 1999 — a younger Song-hwa sees Lee Ik-jun play his guitar. She asks him if he’d like to go for dinner for his birthday, but he declines, stating he has a blind date. She was heartbroken — we can see now why she has been hesitant. The past has not helped.

While Lee Ik-jun recovers, Song-hwa has a patient who needs immediate attention as they have a brain tumor. She recommends a biopsy and surgery. The prognosis looks good for complete resection. However, later on, she learns that the patient has an ophthalmic artery aneurysm — it’s way more serious. She updates the patient and his wife on the two surgeries he needs. There’s a risk of vision loss, but that’s a low chance. With emotions high, the patient does not want to undergo surgery, leaving Song-hwa having to insist he goes for it.

Eventually, Lee Ik-jun recovers, and he looks well. He’s back to his usual self, cracking jokes and being goofy. Later on, Song-hwa joins him to play cards — they are playful and flirtatious with each other. Lee Ik-sun sees the pair from a distance, and she spots the romance instantly. She tells Jun-wan not to intervene. Jun-wan is adamant that they are not dating, but when he sees them together playing cards, he’s shocked to see that they are playful and flirtatious.

And another romance is blossoming as season 2 navigates towards an ending. Min-ha tells Gyeo-ul that she finally has a date with Yang Seok-hyeong, and she’s excited. The moment arrives, and Min-ha is incredibly nervous — it does not help that at the cinema, Chairman Ju and Jeong Rosa are sat in front of them. After the film, Seok-hyeong confirms to Chairman Ju that he’s on a date. When Seok-hyeong takes Min-ha home, she wonders if she has gotten the wrong idea — she tells him she’s a good person and he needn’t worry. Seok-hyeong confirms that he likes her and that he would like them to see each other. We are delighted for Min-ha!

Eventually, Song-hwa’s patient agrees to the surgery, but she’s worried because it is a complicated procedure. And so the intense surgery begins, and it goes well. Afterward, Song-hwa performs a vision test on the patient, and he can see.

The ending

And then…the moment we have all been waiting for. It was worth the wait. Lee Ik-jun and Song-hwa spend time together in the car, doing their usual chit-chat. Suddenly, lightning strikes, so they decide to drink coffee and watch the rain. There’s plenty of silences, but then Song-hwa breaks it. She tells him to look away because she’s eager to tell him something, and she’s embarrassed. Song-hwa admits that when Lee Ik-jun was attacked, the first thing that came to her mind was that she should have expressed her feelings for him. That was her FIRST thought. In a cute moment, Song-hwa asks Lee Ik-jun if they can start seeing each other. Lee Ik-jun responds to her question by kissing her. You can tell they’ve wanted to do that for a long time because it was passionate.

The writers may have made us wait, but they have managed to encapsulate long-lasting love with the Song-hwa/Lee Ik-jun storyline.

Additional points
