Summary
It’s an interesting format but not as groundbreaking as the show would like to be.
The review of the Netflix reality series Insiders (2021) season 1 does not contain spoilers.
The premise of the show follows 12 contestants, who are unaware that they’re on a reality show. With hidden cameras and microphones, Insiders is said to portray an honest reflection of its unknowing reality stars. As is usually the case with reality shows, there are plenty of tears and arguments as the contestants battle to win the €100,000 cash prize.
But is this series worth the watch? For anyone who misses Big Brother, and judging by Twitter there’s a lot of you, Insiders will fill the gap that’s been left ever since the show stopped airing. (In the UK at least). But in comparison to Big Brother at its peak, this series doesn’t compare. The problem with reality shows is that they’re not as shocking, original, or exciting once you’ve watched a few. However, if that doesn’t bother you, then this will be a good watch. There’s plenty of drama, and the contestants are easy to get to know. There are bound to be those that you love to hate. As a whole, Insiders is like a tech-savvy version of Big Brother mixed with Too Hot to Handle.
In total, there are 12 different contestants; look out for them on IG as the show is very likely to boost all of their profiles. Those contestants are Francisco, Laura, Barbara, Tatiana, Peter, Fama, Nicole, Hugo, Estefania, Olaya, and two contestants called Ivan. They’re all a good mix of characters with their “normal jobs”, including poker player, restaurant manager, and DJ. Whilst the show itself features singer and actress Najwa Nimri as the host. You may remember her from her role in Money Heist as Alicia Sierra.
Insiders is a quick show to get through, consisting of 7 episodes with the run time varying between 45-60 minutes.
