Inspector Koo season 1, episode 2 recap

Episode 2 is a straight continuation to the premiere, with Koo Kyung-yi finding Kim Min-gyu dead and an old friend back from her school days watching from afar. The same woman decides to blow up a small shelter nearby that is full of poison, and she seems very happy about it. The next day, the police find the small shelter, and Koo Kyung-gyu alerts Na Je-hui, stating that this is much bigger than she thought. On the news, it’s announced that Kim Min-gyu, the man that tried to scam life insurance for his family, has been found dead after inhaling poisonous gas.

Koo Kyung-Yi ponders a conspiracy; how workers from the same plant have started dying. She believes a killer is on the loose and thinks about the boy who died on the party boat.

Koo Kyung-yi speak to Kim Min-gyu’s wife. Her husband wanted to fake his death for a year. She wonders if she burned the shelter with the poison and if she is the murderer. The wife claimed someone called her out of the blue — they sent the video of her husband with the sex worker. In a flashback, she confronted her husband. The mysterious person kept calling her.

Later on, Na Je-hui finds Kyung-yi, and she’s a mess again. She reminds her of the operation she has set up for her. Kyung-yi provides her theory that Kim Min-gyu is linked to a series of murders before getting back to her video games.  While gaming, she senses that a gamer will commit suicide, so she locates him to stop his attempt. As for Yi-kyung (the woman who burned down the shelter with poison), she continues to live her carefree life; she’s such an eccentric character that it is hard to keep up with her.

While Kyung-yi makes her way home, she’s briefly intimidated by a couple of men in a taxi before being dropped off at a bathhouse. When she heads inside, a woman greets her like she already knows her. She wants to know what she spoke to Kim Min-gyu about. And also enquires about Lee Jun-hyeon. Kyung-yi acts coy with her answers and states that the case is closed and disguised as something else. The woman wants to catch the murderer. She tells her to be careful, or she’ll end up being killed as well.

The ending

Na Je-hui and her colleague visit Kyung-yi and go through the recent insurance death cases. She asks for demonstrations of each death. Afterward, Yi-kyung’s aunt (an insurance planner) is called to meet Koo Kyung-yi, and Yi-kyung wants to join her. They meet a cancer patient, and the aunt makes the wrong approach, and she’s panicking; Koo lays out what she did wrong. Yi-kyung then meets Kyung-yi in the corridor, and they stare at each other. Has Koo Kyung-yi figured out who she is?
