Harlem season 1, episode 6 recap

As the winter season is nearing, it also means that cuffing season is close! As for cuffing season, that refers to a time where single people tend to look for a short-term relationship in an attempt to pass the colder months of the year. After Camille gives a lecture on the fact, Nora tells her that Dr. Elise Pruitt wants to see them both. As for Dr. Pruitt, it seems that she prefers Nora seeing as the pair are Facebook friends. Something she doesn’t want to be with Camille.

Two weeks after the argument, the four best friends reunite at a spa treatment. Before long, Angie, Tye, Camille and Quinn have made up! Much to the joy of Angie, who is now on a mission to find a man for the winter. As for Tye’s Forbes interview, she says it went well! As for her relationship with Anna, not so much. Anna is growing confused with Tye’s behavior, who now wants the pair of them to be “cool”. Anna’s response is, “You know what, f**k you, delete me, and I’ll delete you, cool”. Quinn’s day gets off to a great start when she gets a visit from her mother, Patricia. It turns out that Isabela (Juani Feliz) needs a dress. So Patricia has decided that Quinn should make it, as she believes it’s not like there are crowds of customers in the store that will keep Quinn busy.

Whilst searching for a cuffing partner, Angie stumbles across Eric (Jonathan Burke). Eric is also is looking for someone to have during cuffing season. They find a potential partner, but they’re disappointed to find out he already has a boyfriend. Back to Camille and her endless drama in relationships, and she informs Jameson that she’ll be going to the opening of Ian’s restaurant. Even though she didn’t ask for permission, Jameson gives her permission to go. And so, they attend the opening together. During the opening of Ian’s restaurant, Jameson hits it off with Mira, who is impressed that Jameson started a scholarship program that has sent 33 people to university. As for Mira, she is also an activist as she bought a metal straw. Who wants to bet that Mira and Jameson end up together?

Quinn and Shawn attend a 90s Hip Hop event together, although it becomes clear that she wants to hide his stripping career and the fact that he already has a son. Annoyed by the situation, Shawn makes an awkward exit and heads to work. Aware that she’s upset him, Quinn chases after him and starts to do her own strip show to try and prove that she isn’t ashamed of his career. But is it enough?

The ending

As Angie sings karaoke with Eric, he goes to kiss her. He reveals that he is bisexual, not gay as she originally thought. And with that, Angie has found her man for the cuffing season, and they continue with their karaoke performance. Camille, Angie, and Quinn are all shown to be “loved up”. Tye, meanwhile, is on her own as she works. The sixth episode of Harlem concludes with Camille as she receives a text from Ian that read; “Are we making a mistake?” Regardless of her true opinions of what Ian has said, she brings Jameson to lunch with Tye, Quinn, and Angie. The episode finishes just as Tye collapses in pain.
