Aranyak season 1, episode 3 recap
With Sundar killed, Angad chases after a possible suspect who fled the scene. He finds Govind, who claims that he saw the suspect run in a specific direction. Govind claims he was trying to help and starts talking about Leopard-Man. Angad decides to interrogate Govind. Kasturi confirms to them both that Sundar is dead. Angad has no choice but to let Govind go, but he tells him he can’t leave the village because he was at the crime scene.
With Sundar claiming that Aimee was with Kanti, they visit his mother’s house (the minister Jagdamba). They ask Jagdamba questions about her son Kanti and the night Aimee was murdered. Angad wants to know why she canceled his parole. She claims she was worried his behavior would ruin her election chances. They then question Gagan, Kanti’s best friend, about his night out with Kanti. Flashbacks show Gagan warning Kanti to be careful or he will ruin his mother’s election, so he apparently started to behave. According to Gagan, they went home that night after a few drinks at Hotel Bom.
Angad and Kasturi then interview Kanti; he tells them that he shouldn’t have been in prison for rape in the first place. Both officers are unwilling to play with his mind games, and Angad slaps Kanti.
Angad and Kasturi then visit Hotel Bom and learn that Kanti booked a room that night. They check out the room. The staff claim that it was mostly tidy and clean when they cleaned the room, except the lamp was on the floor. Angad wonders why Kanti booked a room but didn’t use it. Mahadev walks in and says that the Leopard-Man case used to be his, and he once was attacked by him — he shows the scars on his neck. Angad asks his team to look into Govind — he feels he is involved.
The ending
Kasturi invites Angad over for dinner at her house — he brings Julie over too. At the dinner table, Kasturi’s husband Hari notices the eye contact between Kasturi and Angad. He texts someone that Julie was at their house with Angad. Angad walks Julie home. She gives him a hug and thanks him for his help. The husband asks Kasturi if anything is going on between Angad and Julie. His paranoia is rife.
In the middle of the night, Angad checks out CCTV from outside of Govind’s cafe. He notes a time he saw Aimee, but he finds an alarming discovery.
While episode 3 felt fast-paced, it didn’t have that spark for a murder mystery.
