Kitz season 1, episode 6 recap – the finale and ending explained

Episode 6 opens with the chalet burning down. The bad news is delivered — Vanessa didn’t make it. Lisi is in absolute shock as Dominik breaks down. Lisi says, “I didn’t want this.” The fire wasn’t her fault, but it’s the series of events that led to this moment initiated by her. Lisi believes she killed her because none of this would have happened if she didn’t post the video. She ponders if they were wrong, but Han convinces her otherwise; he still thinks Vanessa was responsible for Joseph’s death.

There’s an investigation, and Lisi is questioned; she’s asked if she knew about the video, and she admits they did it together and Vanessa was acting for a casting tape. The investigator ponders if the video was leaked and asks where Vanessa’s phone is. Afterward, Dominik asks Lisi if it was a mistake between them. She reveals Vanessa’s phone and states she will give it back after finding it. Dominik wants to take it to Vanessa’s family, but before he does, he deletes messages that would suggest that they betrayed her.

Lisi visits Vanessa’s family and offers her condolences with flowers. Understandably, emotional tensions are high. Privately, Kosh tells Lisi that Vanessa’s life fell apart when she entered her life. Lisi asks for his help. She admits she wanted revenge, but not like this. She explains that Hans is also involved, so it’s not only her at risk. She doesn’t want Hans to be blamed for this. Lisi asks Kosh to get the phone for her. Kosh agrees, but he states he’s doing it for Hans.

Kosh accesses Vanessa’s phone and deletes the recording that would prove they wanted revenge. Meanwhile, Basto speaks to Hans; he’s terrified because he caused the fire. Hans tells him to hand himself in.

Late in the night, Lisi finds Dominik, who is blaming himself for what happened. Lisi tells him he shouldn’t think like that and offers him comfort. She believes they can be broken together, and they kiss passionately.

The ending

Predictably, season 1 ends with a twist.

At the funeral for Vanessa, Kitz speaks to the sister; she wants to know more about Joseph. She reveals that Vanessa felt free around her brother and wanted to break up with Dominik, but she didn’t know how. She reveals that the night Joseph died, Vanessa looked for her phone at the chalet. Lisi is irked by this revelation — she thought Vanessa was why her brother drove to hers that night. Hans tells Lisi not to torture herself, but Lisi wonders if Vanessa didn’t send those messages to Joseph.

And then the police show up at the funeral, and they arrest Josh for the destruction of evidence. Lisi then remembers Dominik’s actions in recent events; how he knew the code to Vanessa’s phone, and how he wanted to destroy evidence. A flashback reveals Dominik confronted Joseph when he reached the chalet a year earlier.

Was Dominik responsible for Joseph’s death? Season 1 ends with more questions, leaning towards a future continuation.
