Renewed or Cancelled – Will there be a Summer Heat Season 2?
Summer Heat, or Temporada de Verão, is Netflix’s latest teen drama, this one a Brazilian outing that admittedly hews very closely to the tried-and-true tropes of the genre. A relatively low-stakes and edgeless affair, it’s set at a swanky beachside resort and concerns the travails of several young adults who grow closer through a haze of summer sun and flaring hormones.
It’s fine – inoffensive, certainly, but also too bland to be all that memorable. Nevertheless, these things are popular, and if Summer Heat continues the trend, people are going to be curious about the potential for a second season. We’re here to provide all the information we have on the subject.
Renewed or Cancelled status – Will there be a Summer Heat Season 2?
As of right now, there has been no official confirmation from Netflix that the show has been greenlit for another season. This isn’t altogether unexpected, since the freshman outing only aired on January 21, 2022, and sites like Netflix Top 10 haven’t yet accumulated enough data to make an informed guess.
However, there’s plenty of reason to speculate. Teen dramas are very popular for Netflix, as we’ve seen with other hits in the genre, most notably things like Elite and Outer Banks. The problem that Summer Heat might have is that it just isn’t as interesting or salacious as those shows. A character being led away in handcuffs is as interesting as things get here, and without all the sex and murder, will audiences still be interested?
The ending to the first season does at least leave things open-ended, and there are definitely new directions that the story could go in. But without a fairly significant viewer base, it’s unlikely that the juice would be worth the squeeze.
What is the premise of Summer Heat?
The show revolves around a group of young adults who all work at the Maresia Hotel, an island resort where despite their disparate backgrounds they can begin to form strong bonds and transition into adulthood. There are strong themes of family and friendship here, and a potential second season could take that further, as well as continuing some of the lingering subplots left dangling after the first season, such as Catarina’s fate and motive.
Summer Heat cast – who is in the show?
While some characters headed away from the island at the end of the first season, there’s a strong chance that most of the core cast could return, including:
Giovanna Lancelotti (Catarina)
Felipe Rocha (Maresia)
Maicon Rodrigues (Conrado)
André Luiz Frambach (Miguel)
Giovanna Rispoli (Helena)
Leonardo Bittencourt (Rodrigo)
Jorge López (Diego)
Mayana Neiva (Vilma)
