This recap of Netflix’s Raising Dion season 2, episode 5, “ISSUE #205: You vs. Me,” contains spoilers.
The second season has many layers, but I’m not entirely sure if the layers are instrumental. The story is suggesting something more prominent than season 1, but at the same time, it’s not materializing quickly enough. The pace is off.
Raising Dion season 2, episode 5 recap
Episode 5 begins with Brayden visiting Pat in his head. He tells him he killed his father. Pat tries to explain that technically, it was not him but then realizes that Brayden has the Crooked Energy. This plot has a flaw; Pat does not mention Brayden again throughout the episode. It would be an essential thing to bring up, don’t you think?
Kat and Tevin take Dion to the cabin in the woods. Brayden is spying on them using a bird while Tevin and Dion train. Is there anything Brayden cannot do at this point?
Pat wants to use Dion’s DNA for gene therapy and explains the method to Nicole; he thinks it will help with a cure. Suddenly, a creature is wheeled into BIONO, putting perspective into how serious this situation is. Kat video calls Pat and puts pressure on him to make progress; she believes finding a Powered person with metal abilities may be the antidote to their problems. Meanwhile, realizing she is transforming, Nicole does not want to put anyone else in danger and asks BIONO to put herself into self-isolation.
Pat is panicky in episode 5; he tells Nicole that he cannot find a cure to the infection and that he needs more time — he apologizes. Janelle, who wants to understand her powers, take it into her own hands and head to the lab. Using her powers, she creates an antidote. Pat now believes he has the cure.
The ending
In the woods, Braydel toils with Tevin’s mind, making out that Dion is dangerous. Later on, Tevin feels he cannot control himself and tries to attack Dion, so he tells the young boy to run. As Dion runs, a flock of birds attacks him. Brayden is becoming a real problem.
Pat tests the cure on the monster they have; the infection declines, but alarmingly, the creature dies. Nicole is distraught as she realizes this could happen to her.
Additional notes
- Esperanza is struggling in music rehearsals. Dion rings her to motivate his friend. Esperanza wants to invite Gary, the security guard, to the show.
- Janelle tells her mother and Nicole that nobody gets her.
