The Boys Presents: Diabolical season 1, episode 1 recap

Your typical daily morning for anyone trying to maintain or make it in America. Our hero, a skinny man with curly red hair, manages to roll out of bed looking tired and worn out. He manages to clean himself up and be alert enough to drive to work only because he has a mug of coffee he sips while he goes, spilling some drops over himself and onto the upholstery of his used, midsized sedan. When he gets to work, his day is brightened when a baby rolls a red toy ball to him. He keeps it because the family leaves on the elevator before tracking them down.

The happiness doesn’t last for long, however. He turns and runs into a tall, well-dressed man. We can presumably think he is his boss or someone vital at the company he works for. He runs for the elevator and gets to his floor. He appears to be a research scientist.

When he arrives at his floor, he is a bit of a klutz. He checks the door and pulls out a clipboard for The Power Trial Subject #73852, and fills in the “20,” the last day of the trial. The one with the locks of fire walks into the room and sees the cutest little girl you ever laid eyes on. You can tell he cares for her, but she has not successfully hit her targets. He is more concerned with playing games with her.

The man is lonely.

Then, that same man he spilled coffee on looks at him disapprovingly through the window in the door. He quickly gets up and pulls down the target board for the baby to hit. But what? She throws a toy at it and laughs. She then looks like she wants to let out the cutest little sneeze and ZAP! All over the room, she shoots blazing laser beams out of her eyes. As she continues to sneeze, our guy dives for cover. She yawns, and he puts her to bed.

When our guy becomes sad the trial has concluded, he finds out the company plans to terminate her. The evil doctor of the organization, who looks like the villain from the SNL cartoon The Ambiguously Gay Duo, grabs some men to finish the job. However, Red holds the child and takes off, only to be caught at the door. But the baby escapes. When one guard reaches her, she shoots those hazardous laser beams from those big brown eyes that disembowels him.

As Baby escapes, crawling away and leaving a bloody trail, Red goes after her as she scampers to an older man selling red balloons. Quickly, all hell breaks loose. A SWAT team takes out the poor older man selling air-filled wonders. She sneezes, taking the entire unit out. All through the park and a zoo, she sneezes and takes out everyone in her way. Red chases her on a police horse, who is quickly killed when he takes the pile of glue into a piranha water tank, with him barely escaping. Baby manages to leave the zoo when her new friend, a gorilla, throws her over the wall onto the street.

The ending

Baby sees a giant red ball on top of a tower that appears to be advertising some fast food restaurant. When she attempts to reach the top, with Red right behind her, she sees a helicopter and sneezes, taking out the armed metal bird. As she comes for the ball, Red has to leap from one building to another to reach her, and he does. He is risking his life and does so. He was landing next to her.

As he picks her up and swaddles her with his jacket, he gives her the ball, and then Big Brain shows up. Baby now hits her target, slicing half his head off. Red covers her eyes, but she wants to see. She snuggles next to him and calls him “Daddah.” As his heart melts, they see hundreds of armed officers below. So, Red leaps off, and Baby’s lasers lower them as she slices up all of them.

They walk away from a new family. The final scene shows a picture advertising Voughtoons, saying, “That’s All Boys!”
