The Boys Presents: Diabolical season 1, episode 6 recap

We should probably talk about Terror. Since he is in every scene featuring the show’s title starting every episode, you know. Here, he is humping a stuffed doll of what appears to look like Groundhawk.

Groundhawk (Mythic Quest’s John DiMaggio) breaks through the wall of the Gipson Bank, holding a large bag of what is probably cash. This leads to Nubian (Don Cheadle) catching him and heading him off the street. The battle ends up with Groundhawk on top of him with first made of probably steal or, at the very least, cement. Just when he is going to smash the young heroes head in, a woman zaps Groundhawk off Nubian and into a parked car.

She floats down from the sky to introduce herself. She is named Nubia (voiced by Aisha Tyler). And they fall in love by beating the crap out of Groundhawk together.

Except for years later, they are constantly fighting, crumbling their relationship. They have a pre-teen named Maya (The Big Show’s Somali Rose) who hears them fighting. As they take continuous passive-aggressive jabs at each other, while The Nubian Prince refers to his testicles as Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr, Maya asks them if they are fighting. Her father says no and takes her to bed to read her a bedtime story of how some people have been vaporized.

To get them to leave each other again, she gets an idea. She has been watching the video of them fighting Groundhawk on the internet over and over. If only they could remember what it was like when they first met and fell in love.

So, she contacts the villain because she knows her parents are only happy when fighting together. He refuses, of course, but she threatens to blackmail him in the only way a child can to an adult, if you know what I mean. Maya and Groundhawk then go over to her house, where he threatens to hurt her in front of her parents.

Unfortunately for the man with anvils for hands, they rekindle their love by beating the crap out of the grounded bird. When they finish and then kiss, they return to inflict some bloody punishment. Now, Maya is worried they might kill him, so she comes clean. Only this time, her parents misunderstand and think he is just like that actor from Seventh Heaven. (I am sorry to break that to you if you didn’t know).

As Maya looks up in the sky and as Groundhawk’s blood rains down from above, the show cuts to her in bed, covering her ears as her parents begin to make loud love all night long, creating a storm of pink lightning in the sky. The following day, as the couple looks at each other lovingly, Nubia discovers no more coffee, and they begin to bicker again.

Maya cannot stand it anymore. She gives them the divorce papers to sign. And she tells them one more thing.

“I want that mother fucking pony.”
