I wish I could say that I enjoy the story progression in the third season, but so far, there’s a whole lot of circles that we’ve come to expect from this series. That’s not to say episode 3 is not dramatic. It is.

Love (ft. Marriage and Divorce) season 3, episode 3 recap

Following on from the recent tragedy that has engulfed the beginning of season 3, Sa-hyeon’s parents debate how they can raise their new grandchild now that the mother, Song Won, is dead. They recognize that it will be difficult as the series presents the significance of a mother dying after childbirth. Hye-ryung rings them and wants to know who has died in the family (Sa-hyeon is not answering his phone). She learns that Song Won has died, and she’s in shock.

Anyway, as for the new romance in the series, Seo Ban and Si-eun go down memory lane as Seo Ban describes how he saw her glowing beauty. Si-eun is determined to remember the past and how their paths crossed. They remunerate how they got to where they are today as their romance evolves. I like this romance, and I hope the writers do not ruin it.

But, there does feel like a certain obstacle is in the way of that new romance; Si-eun continues to help out her ex-husband Park Hae-ryun due to his medical condition. Her daughter questions if she’s forgiving him, but Si-eun argues that she’s a human being. It’s a worthy point, to be fair. She’s known her ex-husband most of her life, and it would be cruel to leave him suffering from a medical condition. But will it cause problems between her and Seo Ban?

And then another obstacle; Hye-ryung finds more reasons to spend time with Seo Ban — she even creates scenarios to extend her time with him. However, she does get frustrated that the conversation does not go as expected. She’s thinking of the future and being his wife. Interestingly, I do not feel Seo Ban is interested, so I do hope Si-eun’s insecurities do not get the better of her when she senses Hye-ryung is encroaching. Later in the episode, Hye-ryung asks Si-eun to dinner as she has something to tell her.

The ending

As the episode ends, a couple of things happen:

A-mi learns that Song Won is dead, and she’s absolutely distraught — she tells Ga-bin, so the women visit Song Won’s memorial; the emotions are high, and there’s a disbelief that she’s dead.

Si-eun receives flowers from Seo Ban, and her children are happy for her. She sends a message to Seo Ban with appreciation. They call each other, and there’s undoubtedly love in the air.

Episode 3 is another standard chapter for this series; there’s enough drama but not much progression.
