Green Mothers’ Club season 1, episode 4 recap
Episode 4 opens up at the mother’s meeting; Jin-ha disagrees with Chun-hui. She thinks the programme for gifted students should be disbanded and agrees with Jul-pin’s mother. This causes tension between Jin-ha and Chun-hui. Meanwhile, Eun-pyo learns that her son is a gifted student, and he’s been misunderstood due to his misdiagnosed ADHD. She decides not to sell the house. The mother-in-law is surprised and happy that her grandson is in the top 0.001% of gifted students.
Eun-pyo attends a parents meet-up for gifted students. Afterward, her cousin Yun-ju tries to make amends for gossiping about her with other parents. Eun-pyo makes Yun-ju aware she wants to join Chun-hui’s meeting. Chun-hui is surprised to see her. Eun-pyo announces that she isn’t moving home and believes in the programme for gifted students, which puts a smile on Chun-hui’s face. These two are unlikely allies.
After the meeting, Eun-pyo asks Chun-hui if her son can join her child’s team for the Rube Goldberg Competition. Chun-hui takes some persuading, believing that Eun-pyo has a card up her sleeve. Chun-hui grants her permission for her son to join the team. Her daughter Yu-bin is not pleased, thinking that Dong-seok is not smart. Eun-pyo reassures her son that Yu-bin is only talking like that because she doesn’t know him well enough. She tells her son not to run away.
Eun-pyo goes for a part-time role at a publisher, but she realizes she will be working with Louis when she attends the interview. It’s about a book he’s publishing. He wants to understand his past and the loss of his parents so his son understands him more. Eun-pyo interviews him, and Louis states that he wanted to be Korean again when he met her in Paris. There’s plenty of tension between these two.
Moving back to the competition, Dong-seok is highly praised as a “genius,” and the other mothers are surprised. Eun-pyo looks at her son with a proud smile on her face.
The day of the Rube Goldberg Competition arrives. Jin-ha tries to catch up with Eun-pyo in the bathroom and tells her she has teamed up with Yun-ju’s child. She asks if there’s a chance they can be close friends again, but Eun-pyo looks uncomfortable. Fortunately, Chun-hui enters the bathroom and disrupts the conversation.
However, there is an accident with the materials, and Jul-pin’s mother wants to remain in the contest and kick Eun-pyo out. Chun-hui defends Eun-pyo, but Eun-pyo says she will compensate and leave the team. Chun-hui tells Eun-pyo that raising a child is bold, and she should not be discouraged. She tells her to put the experience behind her. She asks Eun-pyo for a drink regardless if they win the competition or not. However, Chun-hui and Eun-pyo’s children win, and there’s joy. They win the grand prize.
All the mothers go out to drink and celebrate their children’s success. They talk about how they met their husbands. Yun-ju gushes over how she met her husband while working at the pharmacy. Chun-hui does not look best pleased with the story as the story continues to imply that she has a history with Yun-ju’s husband. Jin-ha then reveals that Eun-pyo introduced her to her husband. Eun-pyo disputes the story and tells the team how she met her own husband — it seems she met her husband during a dark period of her life.
The ending
Jin-ha is super drunk, and Eun-pyo has to take her home. She drops her off to her husband, Louis. They both get her into bed. Jin-ha drunkenly tells Eun-pyo how much she likes her. She asks if they are on good terms again before throwing up. Eun-pyo washes the sick off her in the bathroom and slowly walks out of the apartment to leave, but Louis grabs her softly. After an intense stare between each other, Louis goes in for the kiss, and Jin-ha spies on them. But before the kiss happens, the episode ends. Do they kiss? Did Jin-ha plan this to happen?
Episode 4 continues to develop the story as mysteries remain between the mothers.
