Summary
By far, this is the more horror-type story in Roar. And even so, it manages to convey everyday emotions tremendously well. With a fab story, the fourth episode does a great job of following on from the third episode, “The Woman Who Was Kept On A Shelf”.

Roar season 1, episode 4 recap
Ambia is in labor, and after she gives birth, no one listens as Ambia says something is wrong. It is only when Ambia starts to bleed heavily that the nurses begin to pay attention. A few months later, after recovering from the incident, Ambia gets ready to return to work, which her daughter throws a tantrum over. Ambia calms her daughter by promising to do bedtime with her. When with her husband, Greg, Ambia suggests an au-pair, which Greg is not fond of.
Upon returning to work, Ambia gets told that her replacement, Rodney, was much stronger than they thought he would be. As Ambia jumps straight into work, she has to pump the milk in a storage cupboard when her male co-workers refuse to leave her office. As she pumps the milk, Ambia finds a bite mark on her body. Later that night as the bitemark worsens, Ambia returns home where her daughter, now upset because Ambia missed bedtime, accuses her of making things worse.
Ambia doesn’t believe that it could be Harvey who bit her as she would have felt it otherwise. Greg, however, is more interested in sex than discussing the bite marks. Later that night, after Ambia falls asleep with her daughter, she wakes up to find there are bites marks on her leg. Despite having told work that she didn’t want to travel for another two months, Ambia has to travel for work. In a down-and-out airport hotel, Ambia ends up having a great time with Rodney and even does some shots. Although, as they drink, she does ask Rodney if he is trying to take her job, which he denies. When Greg calls, Ambia decides to ignore it.
The Ending
During the night, Greg finally reaches Ambia and reveals that Harvey has a fear. He cuts the call and tells Ambia that she should pick up whenever he rings. The next morning, Ambia wakes up to find bite marks all over her face and neck. As Greg worries that it could be contiguous, he tells her to visit a doctor or a therapist. She won’t, and she returns to work. But when she arrives there, Rodney pretty much has taken her job. Before she can completely explode, more marks appear on her body. When she digs into one, a tooth burst out of it.
Finally, Ambia gets taken to the hospital. Although, Ambia will not allow the nurses to touch her. As she moves through the hospital, she stumbles upon a meeting where there are women with similar marks. In the meeting, Ambia reveals her inner pain, that she can never tell her son that it was a beautiful birth, every day is a fight, and that she feels constantly guilty. As she gets told that it’s eating her alive, Ambia seemingly accepts what has happened to her. When Greg finally arrives, as he didn’t answer the phone, Ambia forgives him.
