A subplot involving Maggie McPherson is her case against a sex trafficker named Angela Soto. He has been bringing Filipino women into the country, where they are forced to work and eat scraps. When Maggie thinks she has him dead to rights during the beginning of a grand jury, Soto has her only witness killed. No worries, she dusts off her jacket and grabs a mole. Soto’s girlfriend is now pregnant with his child. Maggie and Detective Lankford even have her wear a wire, where Soto finds it and almost kills her. Unfortunately, the wire malfunctioned and is unusable. They will need their mole to testify.

The Lincoln Lawyer season 1 – does Maggie win her case against Angelo Soto?

No, she does not. You see, Detective Lankford was found to be a corrupt cop who had another cop threaten a witness in the Jesus Menendez murder trial to leave town. Once this came out, most of Lankford’s work was thrown out, and Maggie’s case was ended by the new state’s attorney, Robert Cardone.

Does Soto get away with it?

Maggie has been demoted, and she sees the writing on the wall, but it doesn’t matter. DA’s come and go, but she does not. So, when Soto is freed, he looks at her smugly at the hearing. However, McFierce has a plan. You see, she always does. The U.S. Attorney’s office storms the court. Maggie turned over all the evidence she had, and they have chosen to make a case against Angelo. He is being arrested for human trafficking and conspiracy.

When Soto threatens her when leaving court, she assures him the feds have deep pockets and all the time in the world. But be sure, if he skates, she will see him again. Why? As she said, DA’s come and go, but she will be there waiting for him.

God, I love that woman.
