Baby Fever season 1, episode 6 recap – the ending explained

Episode 6 opens up with Nana preparing for her abortion. She tells her boss Helle that she needs the day off and makes up an excuse, stating it’s about her mother. The topic of Simone comes up, which makes Nana feel uncomfortable. It’s due to her that her friend was fired from the clinic. Nana then has an appointment with a client who has decided not to have an abortion despite her and her partner splitting up — they still want to be parents.

Simone does come into work, and there’s tension between her and Nana. Nana is distracted with her work, unable to stay focused on her clients and keeping her story straight. One of her patients gets nervous about treatment due to Nana being distracted. She walks out, calling the service reprehensible.

Eventually, Nana speaks to her boss Helle and fights for Simone’s corner; she reveals she didn’t set the alarm for the sperm bank. However, Helle reminds Nana that Simone is responsible for setting the alarm. But then, Helle’s partner comes in and reveals she is pregnant, which causes immediate celebration.

Later on in the day, Nana collapses at work, so she’s given medical attention. The doctor tells her there’s no concern and the fetus is healthy. Later in the evening, Nana catches up with her mother, who she has a complicated relationship with. Her mother talks about raising her when she was younger and how it gave her lyrics ideas. The mother begins singing, and Nana starts to cry. Her mother comforts her, showing a rare moment of love between them.

The ending

The ending of season 1 shows Nana’s moral conscience coming to the fray.

The next day, Nana comes clean with Helle and confesses to taking the sperm of Mathias from the sperm bank and inseminating herself. Helle is in shock but wants to keep it quiet for now. Nana tells Helle to rehire Simone, and she agrees. Nana then heads to Simone’s apartment to tell her the truth and apologizes to her, but Simone expresses how embarrassed she is. Nana admits she was “insane and wrong” for what she did. Simone lets her in the apartment, and they reconnect.

With their renewed friendship, they head to the clinic and check out Nana’s baby on the monitor. Simone tells Nana that she has to tell Mathias the truth about what happened. The episode ends with Nana outside Mathias’ house — he looks out the window, and they acknowledge each other. The episode closes, making the audience wonder what will happen between these two next.
