Summary
The potential is there for Forever Summer: Hamptons, but for now, nothing will set this show apart from all the other unscripted reality shows we see on TV.
This review of the Amazon original series Forever Summer: Hamptons season 1 does not contain any spoilers.
For the basis of a reality show, it has a mixture of wild characters, intense drama, and a glorious setting. In some ways, Forever Summer: Hamptons could be the next Keeping Up With The Kardashians, but in some ways, it wouldn’t be a shock if nothing more ever comes of it. One of the opening lines, “It’s going to be a minute before he fits in our Hamptons,” sums up the show perfectly. It feels judgy, clicky, and bitchy. The cast all live elite lives, and as the camera follows, it’s neither good to watch nor is it bad. It’s simple, just in the middle.
Forever Summer: Hamptons feels young, hip, braggy, and bitchy. It has all the ingredients needed for a quality reality show. But one of the biggest problems with the show is that after a melodramatic yet overly long intro, Forever Summer: Hamptons then moves very, very, slow. For quite a while, Forever Summer: Hamptons leaves us in a desperate hope that something exciting or at least eventful will happen soon.
The concept of the show is decent, and buried underneath it all is a grippy and juicy series. However, for now, it’s not living up to its potential. And part of that comes down to those cast in the show. Much like the show itself, they’re neither good nor bad. Pretty much, just a bland in-between.
If you’re after a show where a group of falsely acting people shows off their lifestyles, then Forever Summer: Hamptons might be the one. And honestly, as the show is set in the Hamptons, all it did was make me reminisce about ABC’S Revenge. This, as a result, made me want to watch some campy soapy drama instead.
