Summary

Shea and Syd continue to thrive as hosts as Dream Home Makeover might have some of the same beats, but the overall product is still fun to watch.

Netflix reality series Dream Home Makeover season 3 will be released on the streaming service on July 27, 2022.

Shea and Syd McGee are enjoying life and on the verge of welcoming their third child into the world. We get a little behind-the-scenes look at the remolding happening at their own offices. The business has grown huge over the last few years, and they have grown to over 170 employees. Watching these two’s growth over the past few years is incredible.

One of the things about this series is it can become overly redundant. However, this season brought something slightly unique: Syd was pregnant, which brought some extra layer of intrigue. I’m always a sucker for a family dynamic that is built into the story.

Let’s talk about the episodes. Episode one was a little bit of an underwhelming build for the basement. I loved the family dynamic we got from hearing about Shea and Syd’s brand-new baby. I even liked the family they redid the house for, but the basement was being turned into a game room for the family, and I felt like it turned out kind of ugly. Yes, I am aware these are built for the taste of the people, but I am telling you how I felt about how it turned out. I didn’t love it, and for the amount of room they had, and it was supposed to be a “game room,” it was not good.

Another episode I didn’t love was episode two, which saw them bring in an old client to build their dream home. If I am being honest, I hated the makeover. But, these folks have tons of money, and THIS is what you wanted? I also didn’t love the Wine Cellar, and I guess I expected a little more out of this room, considering what we were working with.

However, I did really enjoy a couple of episodes, including the season finale, “A Dream Kitchen Come True”. I would watch Dream Home Makeover based on just kitchens alone. The kitchen this couple had wasn’t big by any means, but the crew had plenty to work with. How Shea and Syd and their team handled the obstacles mid-rebuild made the project that much harder. I won’t lie, this episode hit me right in the feels, folks, because everything this family had gone through and their reactions to the reveal were so sweet. Also, my goodness, I want this kitchen so bad.

One of the things that I love to watch on these shows is the BIG REVEAL. I just want ONCE for someone to see the remodel and them to HATE it. It would be so funny for them to just snap at the host and tell them how much it sucked, and it wasn’t what they had in mind. I am sure they wouldn’t air it, but I would love to see it.

Overall, if you are a fan of this series, you will be a fan of Season 3. I love Dream Home Makeover, and Shea and Syd continue to thrive with their electric chemistry as hosts and brilliantly adding their family to bring a much warmer and homier feel to the show.
