This article discusses (or speculates) whether there will be a season 2 of the Netflix K-Drama series Extraordinary Attorney Woo and its renewed or cancelled status.
Netflix has been raising the popularity of weekly K-Dramas for a while now, but Extraordinary Attorney Woo hits differently. It’s changing the mold, focusing on a story with the theme of ableism. It has become a popular feature on Netflix and, surprisingly, has hit the Netflix Top 10s in recent weeks. It’s not Squid Games levels, which is certainly an outlier, but it proves that weekly K-Drama features are becoming way more viewed via streaming services in Western culture.
Extraordinary Attorney Woo premiered on June 29, 2022, and follows a 27-year-old lawyer on the autism spectrum. Despite being at the top of her class at law school and college, the lead character, Woo Young-woo (played by Park Eun Bin), struggles with the social and allistic world ahead of her.
Will there be a season 2 of the Netflix K-Drama series Extraordinary Attorney Woo – renewed or cancelled status
Status: TBC/ not renewed
As we write this article, Extraordinary Attorney Woo has not been renewed for a second season. However, it’s not unusual for the industry to wait until they make a decision on renewal. As we know, most K-Dramas tend to enjoy a single-season story and wrap things up conclusively by the finale. So once we have seen the conclusion, we’ll be able to sense what the writers have in mind. However, that doesn’t mean it will not be renewed. While the K-Drama industry tends to enjoy single-season stories, the trend of second and third seasons has increased in the last 12 months.
When a K-Drama over succeeds on Netflix, there’s a question on why the streaming service would not renew it, like Hospital Playlist, which treated viewers to a second season.
With incredibly high ratings for Extraordinary Attorney Woo and with Ready Steady Cut giving it favorable ratings, we would not be surprised if this K-Drama series got a second helping. We’ll keep you updated.
