This article discusses “Where was the Netflix film That’s Amor filmed” and does not contain spoilers.

Director Shaun Paul Piccinino, now for the Netflix California Christmas movies, is behind the camera for That’s Amor! A romantic-foody-comedy or, as I have dubbed it, “rom-foo-com,” (you’re welcome, America), about a young woman who finds herself at a crossroads in life. Her name is Sofia (played by Riley Dandy), and she is about to have an unbelievably bad 30th birthday. She is dismissed from her job and finds her boyfriend sleeping with another woman. She moves back home with her mother with no job or romantic prospects. That is until she meets Matias (Westworld’s Isaac Gonzalez Rossi). He is a Spanish chef who, as Netflix states, may be the missing ingredient in her life.

The film was written by John Ducey (Wheels of Fortune). He works from a story by Ali Afshar (Casa Grande) and Tiffany Dupont (Brian Banks). That’s Amor streams on Netflix starting on August 25th, 2022.

Where was the Netflix film That’s Amor filmed – a breakdown of locations

There is truly little information on That’s Amor’s filming locations. Per the Internet Movie Database, the foody romantic comedy was shot in the United States. The Netflix media center does not even have a page dedicated to the film, which is unusual. If you run a Google search, you produce That’s Amore being shot in Pennsylvania, but that is a different 2020 movie altogether.

However, when you look at the trailer, you clearly see numerous California landmarks. This allows us to conclude that the film takes place in San Franciso. (Now, it takes place there, but for all we know, they could have shot most of the scenes in Canada’s version of Hollywood, Vancouver).

San Francisco, California

As we said, the film’s trailer shows multiple San Francisco landmarks, that include The Golden Gate Bridge and the Transamerica Pyramid. The city is the 17th largest in the United States and the fourth largest in the state of California. The city is home to multiple culturally diverse groups, with prominent Mexican, Chinese, and Filipino neighborhoods. This includes the city’s long and respected history of advocating for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community. According to the Weather Spark website, the average temperatures range from 45 to 72 degrees while rarely dipping below 39 or above 83 degrees.

And of course, many famous movies have been shot in The Golden City. According to the San Francisco Film Commission, some more prominent ones include Vertigo, The Birds, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, The Graduate, Dirty Harry, 48 Hours, The Doors, Basic Instinct, Mrs. Doubtfire, The Rock, The Master, and many more!

You can watch this film with a subscription to Netflix.
