10 films like the Netflix film Loving Adults you must watch

Les Diaboliques (1955)

A French classic that was released in the United States as Diabolique. Here, a boarding school run by an obnoxious and mean man named Michael Delassalle (Paul Meurisse). His wife, Christina (Vera Clouzot), owns the school, but Michael is having an affair with a fellow teacher Nicole (Simone Signoret). Instead of getting rid of the wife, Christina and Nicole both cannot stand the man and plan his demise. A must-see, and skip the needless 1996 remake.

Dial M for Murder (1954)

Yes, this 1954 Alfred Hitchcock classic was remade for a 1998 starring vehicle for Michael Douglas, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Viggo Mortenson, but here at Ready Steady Cut, we appreciate the classics. Dial M for Murder tells the story of Tony Wendice (Ray Milland). This retired athlete is married to Margot (Grace Kelly), a socialite currently having an affair with an American novelist, Mark Halliday. Of course, instead of hiring a divorce lawyer, Tony seeks to have her killed and inherit her fortune.

Fatale (2021)

A throwback to erotic love triangle thrillers of the 90s, Fatale stars Michael Ealy as a damoiseau in distress, Derrick, after he sleeps with Hilary Swank’s Valerie, who turns out to be the detective investigating a crime at his home. Fatale is the type of movie you think it is going in and is made for the ones who enjoy the genre.

Fatal Attraction (1987)

A Michael Douglas and Glenn Close vehicle that emphasizes the man was so good in bed the woman turns into a stalking, clingy psycho who will do anything to get you back and even boil your wife’s rabbit. Phew, now that we got that out of the way, this is an enduring classic that was the top grossing film of 1987, earning over 300 million dollars on a 14-million-dollar budget.

Gone Girl (2014)

I am not sure how Gone Girl garnered the reputation as a cult classic when it earned over 350 million dollars and has an 88% critical approval rate on Rotten Tomatoes, but here we are. This David Fincher adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s novel was a smashing success and put a twist on the jilted wife thriller.

Lethal Love Triangle (2021)

Let us face it, movies like Loving Adults are Netflix’s aim to grab fans of the Lifetime movie genre. Is there any film better titled for this list than Lethal Love Triangle?

Match Point (2005)

A masterfully paced, plotted, and crafted thriller about a tennis pro, Chris (Jonathan Rhys-Meyers), who marries the daughter, Chloe (Emil Mortimer), of a wealthy family. But a tale as old as time happens. Chris sleeps with the fiancé of Chloe’s brother, Nola (Scarlett Johannsson). What happens next? Nothing can prepare you for the cold and cruel finale.

Presumed Innocent (1990)

An exceptionally good Harrison Ford vehicle based on the 1987 Scot Turow novel. Ford is a suspect of murder. Of whom, you ask? His ex-lover, Carolyn (Greta Scacchi), is a fellow district attorney. This is one of the better mystery scripts written in the genre.

Unfaithful (2002)

An erotic thriller that’s proof even good men or women can be overcome by jealousy. Diane Lane is outstanding here.

Wings of the Dove (1997)

Based on the classic Henry James novel, Wings of the Dove, and featuring a towering Helena Bonham Carter performance (and a very underrated Linus Roache turn), a love triangle with classic themes of greed and betrayal. Carter plays Kate, who wants to marry Merlon but cannot because of his penniless existence. To marry him, she suggests Merlon manipulate a wealthy socialite, Milly, who is dying, in order to inherit her money.
