Summary

“Ouroboros” is supposed to be uplifting and tense but falls into tired clichés with underwhelming fight sequences. It’s all getting a little too repetitive now, although the promise of an almighty war between Terry and Daniel’s dojos will keep viewers coming back for more.

Ouroboros is a symbol of infinity and the cycle of destruction and rebirth, depicted either with a serpent or a dragon swallowing its own tail. It’s unclear how this exactly relates to this specific episode of Cobra Kai Season 5, but it may have something to do with the endless war between Daniel LaRusso and Terry Silver or that Daniel has been given a second chance here, it could have numerous meanings. Episode 6, “Ouroboros” focuses on the gang’s attempts to re-energize Daniel, whilst Terry’s empire continues to grow.

Cobra Kai Season 5 Episode 6 Recap

Terry welcomes his international senseis as they exit an extravagant private jet. Sensei Kim Da-Eun has brought with her an elite team of fighters to help out Terry with his ever-expanding empire. Kim is Terry’s new business partner and he offers to deliver her grandfather’s teachings to the Western world in return for her allegiance. He talks of legacy and honor, hoping to get the expert trainers on board.

They head straight to Topanga Karate, which Terry has just bought out. He introduces himself and the new senseis to the students, giving them the option to join him or quit. Everyone instantly signs up, but Devon has her doubts. Kim and Tory test out the new students, checking their abilities. Terry wants to turn these losers into winners and asks Kim to get tough with them.

While Terry transforms Topanga Karate into another Cobra Kai franchise, Amanda and the other good guys gather to try and convince Daniel to keep up the good fight. It’s been a week since his fight with Terry and the poor man is totally dejected, with a bruised face and a bruised ego. He has accepted defeat and wants to move on. Amanda, Johnny, Sam and Chozen gather to reinvigorate Daniel. His wife is finally on his side, but he just worries that he has hurt too many people and is teaching the kids a bad example.

Johnny and Chozen decide to battle on Daniel’s behalf and march over to Topanga to fight Terry. They are met by Hyan-Woo instead and both take on the impressive sensei. Kim enters with her other international fighters. Unfortunately, they are outnumbered and flee. Chozen and Johnny inform Amanda of this change in circumstances, this will be a tougher fight than imagined. They desperately need Daniel back on their side, so Amanda reignites Daniel’s passions with a trip down memory lane and by repeating some of Miyagi’s sage advice.

Cobra Kai Season 5 Episode 6 Ending

This episode brings Kreese back into the fray too and we get to explore his prison routine first-hand. The former sensei is trying valiantly to put on a good act so he can get an early release, but the designated therapist sees straight through his lies. On top of these problems, Kreese has attracted the attentions of some rather nasty looking bullies, who take his food and intimidate the prisoner. Kreese can’t seem to keep up this saint-like persona any longer and he battles the thugs when they corner him in his cell. It ends in another fight as Kreese battles a small army of inmates. His only salvation comes in the form of repeat visits from Tory, who is working as a mole for him, bringing Cobra Kai down from the inside.

In the final scene, Amanda and Daniel leave Miyagi’s room, which acts as a time capsule of sorts, and are met by the entire gang. Johnny, Chozen, Sam, Robby and everyone else have gathered to show their support. Amanda states that Daniel isn’t alone anymore, all his friends and family have joined the resistance, hoping to take down Cobra Kai and Terry for good.
