Glitch season 1, episode 10 recap – the ending explained
In this episode, Bora runs back to Ji-hyo because she saw the light and knows what it is. The missionaries and the cult leaders are all chanting for the light. Meanwhile, Bora follows it until it disappears. Seo ends up giving Ji-hyo a beautiful, frilly white dress for her to wear during the ceremony. Youngi catches Bora searching for the energy with her meter and she breaks into the restricted area.
They both see the UFO outside about to come down. Now, The Father is saying that Ji-hyo was under hypnosis and those memories aren’t real. He is asking if she can call them. He takes advantage of her by giving her tea with drugs in it. Cutting back to Bora and Youngi, they see that the light is actually just a drone that was being used as a performative act by the cult.
This just drains Bora entirely because everything she thought was real was just a lie. Then, while Ji-hyo is unconscious the Father begs her to be the “Messiah” because of the prophecy. He tells her that everything that happened to her was a lie and that she needs to just play her part as the “Messiah” now. She must force them to commit mass suicide. While Bora is in the restricted area, the rest of her friends come to save her at the right time as security was about to get her. According to the Father, no aliens exist and this is all fabricated because he is sadistic.
Ji-hyo is out of her body and completely trapped in her mind. She can’t speak properly and actions are being made for her. Ji-hyo was just seeing things the whole time and believed that she is insane. She starts crying because everything she ever believed in was a lie. The light then shines on the crowd after the smoke creates the illusion.
The necklaces being worn by the missionaries all contain poison and they are about to take it at the right moment. Ji-hyo was able to break through the drugs and warn them. She confesses everything to them.
They all spit out the pill and now the detective arrives in the knick of time with Sikook. Youngi also shoots the drone down and causes panic among the crowd as they slowly realize it’s all fake. Youngi tries to take a shot at the Father but misses and then everyone disperses.
Bora makes a B-line to Ji-hyo and times to help her out of the chains. Once Ji-hyo is free, the crowd turns on her and ends up going after her because of the lies she told. Younson again, still there, looks up to the sky because she feels the actual presence of the aliens.
Within moments, the actual UFO appears from the sky and heads down toward Earth. Bora and Ji-hyo are on the ground now looking up at the UFO and Ji-hyo gets abducted again. We get to see the interior and that she isn’t actually insane.
The Glitch ending
After all of that, they truly believe in it and because the tracker is out of Ji-hyo, she feels like a weight has been lifted. She still goes to her therapist and just talks to him about the aftermath of everything. Bora goes on to make a documentary about all of it and she wants to start a new project. Ji-hyo and Bora lead the alien forum together, and Ji-hyo is a famous name now.
The post-credit scene shows Sikook encountering the same alien as it grows in front of him the same way it did for Ji-hyo. So now he believes in it and the cycle could happen again with him. But this time we would know the truth.
The ending of this series is definitely open to interpretation. It’s also possible that Sikook was abducted and the cycle will be broken now. The aliens could possibly stay on Earth with them and live in unity with humans. No one will ever be harmed and they can simply coexist with only those who are abducted seeing them.
