Barbarians was a big hit for Netflix, quickly becoming the most popular ever German-language series on the platform and earning itself a second season almost immediately. It might have taken a couple of years for it to arrive, but fans were definitely looking forward to the new episodes, with a huge uptick in related searches for the season ahead of its release on October 21, 2022.
Since Barbarians season 2 is now here and is as good if not better than the first season, the chances of it once again performing well are strong. Renewed or canceled status – will there be a Barbarians Season 3?

Netflix haven’t given official word yet, but it’s only a matter of time, and if we see the same trajectory, we’ll find out sooner rather than later.
Barbarians season 2 ends on a huge cliffhanger, with Thusnelda and her son Thumelicus being taken to Rome as prisoners of Tiberius after being betrayed by Thusnelda’s parents. The Cherusci tribe and several of its neighbors are still relatively united under Ari — or Marbod, it’s difficult to tell at this point — but their numbers have been drastically reduced as the assault on the Roman camp and Folkwin, one of their most stalwart warriors, is dead. There is a lot of story still to tell here.
The first season of Barbarians recorded 37 million views in its first month on the streaming service. The second may not perform as well after the two-year gap, but it’s sure to be something of a hit. It’ll be worth keeping an eye on Netflix Top 10 to see how it’s doing, but odds are high it’ll be a respectable effort.
We predict Barbarians will be renewed for a third season. If so, you can probably expect it sometime in 2024.
