We discuss whether there will be a Slumberland 2, a sequel to the Netflix film Slumberland, and will contain spoilers.
There have been many films recently that have explored grief in different ways, and Slumberland does it through dreams. In this film, a young girl discovers a secret map to the dreamworld of Slumberland, and with the help of an eccentric outlaw, she traverses dreams and flees nightmares, with the hope that she will be able to see her late father again.
In some moments, young Nemo (Marlow Barkley) grounds the dreamlike fantasy with her grieving. The story works when Nemo is in reality with her uncle Philip (Chris O’Dowd). Trying to navigate her father’s death is one thing, but then being linked to a fantasy dream world with him is her comfort. Her dad Peter (Kyle Chandler), would tell her wonderful stories and share the time he spent in Slumberland with her.
He shared his experiences, and that is the one thing that she remembers him for. So, in order for her to feel close to her dad again, she enters the world. There, she meets Flip (Jason Momoa), who is a very obscure character. He’s excitable, friendly, and a bit sassy.
Nemo had to start doing things on her own without her father, which is an incredibly difficult thing to do. She had to move schools, and since she was very young, she needed to find a guardian. She felt more at home in Slumberland than she did with her Uncle Philip.
Slumberland 2 sequel potential release date
As of now, there is no clear date for the sequel of Slumberland. Depending on how well this film does over its first weekend, it could potentially be done in the future. Jason Momoa would be the driving vehicle, and the story could continue.

Slumberland sequel plot: what could Slumberland 2 be about?
Once you reflect on this film, it is a bit heavy. Young Nemo deals with so much grief as it manifests into something fantastical for her. Her connection to her father is the strongest aspect of this film, and a sequel could go in a very different direction.
In the second film, her uncle Philip could be more involved as he gets to know Flip in Slumberland. There could be more of a symmetry between the two characters as Nemo gets older.
There could be a possibility that Nemo could forget Slumberland or lose touch as she gets older. In the sequel, we could see a time jump to show her losing touch with that childlike wonderment that brought her closer to her father and Slumberland to keep the same tone.
Since Philip has rediscovered his connection with Flip, he can help Nemo in the same way. It doesn’t feel like the same story but it could work as a favour to Peter, who always kept that child inside him.
