Episode 8 of Chainsaw Man may have just been the best episode of the season so far. Episode 9 will have a lot to live up to but considering there’s still Katana Man to deal with, it’s sure to be another action-packed massacre that will have viewers on the edge of their seats. With all of our major characters either injured, dead, or unaccounted for, next week’s battle will be rough, but surely the Devil Hunters of Division Four will get through it.
- Viewers see just how Himeno and Denji made it back to her place; with Himeno so drunk, she asks Denji to sleep with her.
- Although Denji is torn between Himeno and Makima, he still agrees. However, he backtracks after finding a lollipop Makima gave him in his pocket. It reminds him of her and the vow he made to himself to lose his virginity to her.
- When they wake up the next morning, Himeno is happy she and Denji did not sleep together, as she has feelings for Aki. She and Denji agree to help each other try and get with their respective love interests.
- On her way to a meeting in Kyoto, Makima and her assistant are shot in the head and killed. Several other Division Four members are also shot on missions, but who lived and died is unknown.
- Denji, Power, Aki, and Himeno are attacked by a strange man while eating ramen. He manages to shoot Denji and Himeno before Aki has the man eaten by his Fox Devil.
- Instead of dying, the man emerges from the Fox Devil as a devil-human hybrid like Denji, only his form includes katanas instead of chainsaws.
- Aki fights with Katana Man, using his Curse Devil to kill him, but a mysterious blonde woman resurrects him. When he comes back, Katana Man is so fast he injures Aki before anyone can even see him move.
- Himeno makes a deal with her Ghost Devil to sacrifice everything she has in exchange for saving Aki. Her limbs begin to disappear one by one as the Ghost Devil manages to get a hold of Katana Man, but before it can kill him, the mysterious woman summons the Snake Devil to consume the Ghost Devil.
- Aki looks back towards Himeno’s body, only to see that she has disappeared entirely, leaving only her clothes behind.
Chainsaw Man season 1, episode 9 release date and time
Episode 9 is scheduled to release on Crunchyroll on Tuesday, December 6th, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. ET. The title for episode 9 is unknown at this time, but it will have a run time of approximately 23 minutes.

Predictions
Chainsaw Man episode 8 left fans on multiple cliffhangers last week, so it’s not hard to assume where episode 9 will take us. It’s hard to believe the show would kill off this many main characters this early in the series, but studio MAPPA fans know all too well that it’s not a totally farfetched concept. Still, surely everything won’t remain so bleak. I was right about the introduction of a new foe, so let’s see if I can guess something right again this week.
- There’s a good chance someone isn’t really dead. Either Himeno or Makima has to be coming back, maybe through contracts made with devils.
- I do think, however, that several other Division Four members were killed. Maybe Kobeni or Fushi. Indeed more than a few members were hit in these attacks.
- Denji will hopefully heal and take out Katana Man before anyone else loses their life to him. I feel like the mysterious blonde woman will end up getting away though.
- It feels too early for the Gun Devil to show up, but the man in the ramen restaurant mentioned him as if they’d met. I have a feeling he’s not far and that the group may even discover where he’s hiding next week now that his minions have begun popping up.
