Season 3, episode 5 of Mythic Quest is titled “Playpen”, which refers to the rushed program that Poppy (Charlotte Nicdao) made to keep v busy all those weeks ago, whilst she concentrated on her opus Hera. Dana thinks the tool kit is lots of fun and she gives a demonstration to its creator. While Poppy reconsiders her options at work, Mythic Quest employees have a similar brainwave. Carol (Naomi Ekperigin) is promoted again, Brad (Danny Pudi) considers a new title, and Rachel (Ashly Burch) realizes where her best skillset lies. It’s an odd episode that presents a great message but lacks any real substance. Here’s what happened:
- Poppy worries that she is losing her instincts for great gaming features and has completely forgotten what it is like to have fun. Dana points out the joys of Poppy’s Playpen program, which reinvigorates the creative somewhat.
- Meanwhile, Ian is annoyed he wasn’t consulted about the Mythic Quest movie and he seeks out answers from David. Ian doesn’t want Joe Manganiello playing him in the film, but David explains that the movie is about the game, not the creator. They get into an argument and David whispers an insult as Ian is leaving. He ends up giving Ian the requested consulting duties as an apology of sorts.
- Montreal is impressed with Carol’s NFT initiative and offer her a promotion. She now has stock options and a budget to play with. Brad considers taking on his old job but offers it to Rachel instead. Rachel doesn’t want the title, but Brad thinks she is perfect for the role of Head of Monetization.
- Poppy has fun in the VR game Playpen, but the realization that she’s wasted a year of her life on Hera quickly sinks in. Dana tries to cheer her up, gushing about Playpen’s possibilities. They enter the game again and Dana’s class is there to applaud Poppy’s work.
- Poppy rushes over to Ian’s pad to tell him the good news. She wants to focus on Playpen now instead of Hera and Ian happily agrees. He is a little preoccupied though, with his ex-girlfriend Shannon over. Poppy leaves before things get awkward. Alone, she smiles, proud of her new prospects.

Predictions
- Poppy and Ian are going to solely concentrate on making Playpen the best gaming experience it can possibly be. Ian will have some wild ideas about expanding the game, but Poppy will want to keep things simplistic, yet still addictively fun.
- Ian and Joe Manganiello will meet to discuss the movie, although this will just end up becoming an ego contest between the two alpha males. They’ll show off and try to impress whoever else is in the room. They may actually bond in the end though, discovering that they are both mega-geeks with similar interests.
- Brad has agreed to help Rachel with her new job from behind the scenes. They will discuss how best to move forward with the NFT project. Both ended up hating the project originally, so this will be interesting to see how they handle an idea they can’t get passionate about.
- The next episode looks likely to be Christmas-centric. Hopefully, there will be lots of references to Christmas movies and plenty of Christmas songs to enjoy over the festive period.
