Why are they no longer friends in Firefly Lane season 2? We explore that question for the popular Netflix show.

One of the burning questions in Firefly Lane is the friendship surrounding Tully (Katherine Heigl) and Kate (Sarah Chalke). It’s a friendship that spans three decades. However, so much time between them means plenty of complicated moments. At the end of season 1, Kate makes it abundantly clear that she can no longer be friends with Tully after crossing paths with her at a funeral.

The reasons at the time were unknown. Leaving viewers ultimately confused. It was obvious that the writers were leaving that part of the story for season 2.

Why are they no longer friends in Firefly Lane season 2?

Tully hurt Kate’s daughter Marah. That’s the reason why they are no longer friends in Firefly Lane.

Despite being friends for three decades, Kate has a red line that cannot be crossed. Hurting her daughter is one of them. As soon as Kate learns that Tully’s actions have hurt her daughter, she no longer wants to be friends.

What did Tully do to Kate in Firefly Lane season 2?

Tully hurt Kate’s daughter in a car accident. While Kate was rekindling her romance with Johnny, Tully was babysitting her daughter Marah.

However, Marah was hung up on another girl who she has feelings for and asks Tully if she could go to the cinemas and meet her. Tully is hesitant at first, but seeing how much Marah likes this girl, she lets her go to the cinema.

However, it appears that Marah’s friend was a bad influence, and Marah ends up at a u-dub party. Marah is crept on by a guy at the party and locks herself in a room. Feeling stuck, Marah rings Tully to pick her up at the party.

But by this point, Tully has had a few glasses of wine after bumping into old flame Danny, so she picks up Marah under the influence of alcohol. While Tully drives them home, a car hits them, and Marah was in the passenger seat.

Both women end up in the hospital injured.

Why did Kate and Tully stop talking in Firefly Lane season 2?

Following the car accident, Kate learns that Tully had been driving under the influence of alcohol and blames her for the car accident. Tully was trying to help Marah, but Kate blames her for allowing her daughter to go meet her friend, as she was meant to be grounded.

The car accident is unforgivable in her eyes. That’s why Kate and Tully stop talking. In an unprecedented phase in the storyline, Kate and Tully do not talk for a year.

Will Kate and Tully be friends again in Firefly Lane?

Everything we know so far is based upon part 1 of Firefly Lane season 2. There is a second part that will be released (date yet to be announced). We fully expect Kate and Tully to be friends again. It’s clear that the women have an unbreakable bond. Thirty years of platonic love. It will take more than a car accident to stop them from missing each other.
