Is Johnny dead in Firefly Lane season 2? We explore a major question from the popular Netflix show.

At the end of season 1, viewers were left confused as it was hinted that there was a major character death. Kate (Sarah Chalke) was attending a funeral, and she was not talking to Tully (Katherine Heigl). There was plenty of uncertainty as to who died. 

One of the main theories is that Johnny (Ben Lawson) died. At the start of season 2, we get an explanation of the death pretty quickly. 

Is Johnny dead in Firefly Lane season 2? 

No, Johnny is not dead in Firefly Lane season 2. But we have to explain that he almost did. Johnny quickly learns that being a war journalist comes with risks, and while reporting on the Iraq war, he is hit by an explosion. This explosion is deadly and changes the course of his story.

He survives. However, he is mentally and physically impacted by the near-death experience in season 2. He’s a different Johnny and one that Kate has to deal with as her ex-husband and the father of her child. 

Who did die in Firefly Lane?

It is revealed that Kate’s father, Bud, is the one who died at the end of season 1, and that is explained in season 2. Tully wanted to attend Bud’s funeral, but Kate did not want her there after Tully was involved in a car accident with her daughter. Kate blamed Tully for what happened to her daughter, which becomes a central theme of season 2.

Is Johnny suffering from PTSD in Firefly Lane season 2?

It’s evident in the early parts of Firefly Lane season 2 that Johnny is struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder.
