This article discusses the possibility of CAT Season 2 and whether the Punjabi Netflix series has been renewed or canceled. It contains some spoilers for the first season.

Created by Balwinder Singh Janjua and starring Randeep HoodaCAT is a solid Punjabi thriller with lots of twists and turns. From our review:

As for the particulars, it’s the usual genre fare. As a youngster, Gary went undercover in a group of separatists to avenge the deaths of his parents. After, he reinvented himself as Gurnam Singh, though never quite managed to completely distance himself from the crimes of his past. In the present day, once again for family, Gurnam immerses himself in a Punjab drug racket and finds himself amid a game being played in the arenas of politics, crime, and finance.

Since it seems very much like there’s more of the story to tell, fans will be wondering about the future of the show, so here’s everything we know:

Will there be a CAT Season 2?

Renewed or canceled status: TBC

At the time of writing, we have no news about a potential second season.

This isn’t unusual. Netflix will be monitoring how the show performs to assess whether the juice will be worth the squeeze. Until sites like Netflix Top 10 begin to reflect the most accurate recent viewing data, it’ll be tough to hell how the show is performing in that regard, but social media traction should be a good preliminary indicator.

Films and TV from the subcontinent are well-served on Netflix already but this is an important demographic for the streamer, and any opportunity to bank a reliable franchise from the region will certainly be taken. Other high-profile originals such as Sacred Games received a second season, so it certainly isn’t out of the question.

More to the point, the ending of CAT sets up a second season very well, with Gurnam resolving to travel to Canada and track down the killers of his parents once and for all. The artistic justification is certainly there.

I might be hedging by bets here, but I predict that CAT will be renewed for a second season.
