We discuss 5 Animated TV Shows like Paradise PD you must watch. Add these recommendations to your watchlist.

Animated police procedural Paradise PD has managed to gain a devoted audience over its four-season run. The exploits of a basically dysfunctional police department, and the various characters that operate there, managed to run up forty episodes before finally being cancelled. With the show not renewed, we wondered if there was anything else out there that might fill the gap. So here are five suggestions that you must watch if you were a fan of Paradise PD.

5 Animated TV Shows like Paradise PD you must watch

Brickleberry (2012)

This animated series has to be up there as it was created by Waco O’Guin and Roger Black, who would also be the creators of Paradise PD. Set in a run-down state park in the fictional Hazlehurst, the show is very much a pre-curser for Paradise PD, and the characters and their exploits form the narrative for the show. There are three seasons and a special for you to catch up with in case you missed this when it first appeared in 2012, and the special is a crossover with Paradise PD, so unmissable for fans of the show.

Mr. Pickles (2014)

This is a tough one, as the premise is absolutely insane. Developed for Adult Swim by Will Carsola and Dave Stewart, the story follows the Goodman family and the loving relationship between 6-year-old son Tommy and the family Collie dog Mr. Pickles. However, Mr Pickles is in fact a demonic, almost Lovecraftian presence, and takes great delight in horrifically murdering helpless victims that stumble into his, or Tommy’s path.

It seems that Tommy’s grandfather has an idea of the demonic dog’s terrifying secret, but to everyone else, Mr. Pickles is a loving family pet. Violent funny and disturbing, Mr Pickles is one of the strangest animated shows out there, but it is oddly watchable and worth a go, for mature audiences only.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force (2000)

Another Adult Swim show, this cult hit animated series also spawned a movie, and went through a few format changes in its staggering eleven-season run. Featuring three main anthropomorphic fast food items, Master Shake, Meatwad and Frylock, the surreal and often hilarious show followed the adventures of the super team that lives in their run-down house in a typical sitcom environment.

They are besieged by aliens, supervillains and neighbours and each episode is pretty much self-contained, although there are a number of recurring characters. To even begin to describe the tone of this show is beyond me, your best bet is to check it out for yourself. I should probably mention that there are plenty of controversial episodes that might trigger some viewers, so step cautiously into this world.

Hoops (2020)

Ben Hopkins is the coach of his basketball team and believes that if he can somehow take his team to the next level, then his life will improve at the same time. The foul-mouthed Hopkins is a crass and loud mouth character played by Jake Johnson, also a producer on the show, which was created by Ben Hoffman. The show was hammered by the critics, with many sighting the crude and sledgehammer humour as being unfunny and without nuance, so Netflix cancelled it after its first season. However, if you are a fan of animated character-based comedy, you might want to check it out.

Lucas Bros. Moving Co (2013)

This animated show, created by the titular brothers themselves, follows the twins as they try to operate a removal company. Based on the real-life experiences of the Lucas brothers, in their roles as cable tv installers, the show aired on Fox and managed to put out two seasons, with season one having six episodes, and season two numbering eleven. The marijuana-smoking work-shy twins calmly stumble through their day, encountering various obstacles, and having surreal adventures.
